There’s a giant spider cricket between the basement stairs and me and this basement is my home now. Tell my children I love them.
I’ve thrown a nearby plunger at him three times & he didn’t budge. Do we think he’s dead or lying in wait?
I just gave this load of laundry a pep talk. “I’m going to be a grown person and get us out of here. I’m going to be a grown person.”
I talked to @guypbenson on the phone (he just happened to call, not like some weird pundit/cricket 911).
He is notably unsympathetic. “What would the cricket DO to you?” “Jump at me.” “And...eat you?”

After my pep talk w the laundry & un-pep talk w @guypbenson, I grabbed my basket & started up the stairs only to see an antennae flinch.
I threw the plunger again, made contact, but it was a glancing blow. I’m upstairs with the laundry now. Cannot assume cricket dead.
I should clarify he was on a vertical surface, making it harder to eliminate him w a direct hit.
Shit. I forgot to switch the clean load over to the dryer. Those clothes are a loss.
