I am currently reading this wonderful book by @Koenraad_Elst which gives amazing insight abt the defence of Godse and exposes the blunders commited by Gandhi (I refuse to use Mahatma), have decided that will be tweeting extracts from the same as I go along. #KnowYourLegacy
Untill now almost all the works published on Gandhi have been hagiographies with none really questioning Gandhi on some hard facts and hence this book comes as something fresh.. #KnowYourLegacy @muglikar_ @indiantweeter @TrueIndology
This book also provides an opportunity for the next gen to learn abt the mistakes commited during the freedom struggle and more importantly also abt the fact that it was not a single person or party which helped us attain independence #KnowYourLegacy @muglikar_ @TrueIndology
Requesting stalwarts of exposing the MSM and the entrenched historians to support this small effort on my part... @muglikar_ @indiantweeter @OpIndia_com @TrueIndology @SwarajyaMag @coolfunnytshirt
At the outset the book details how Gandhi set in motion the unchallenged hegemony of Nehru by forcing Patel to withdraw his candidature for congress presidency #KnowYourLegacy #Gandhi
It seems the #Congress has a long tradition of unleashing it's cadres for murdering people in case one of its own leaders get assassinated..legacy followed well into the time when #IndiraGandhi was murdered.. #KnowYourLegacy #Gandhi
Another curious thing is why has been the document detailing Godse's defence been a tabooed document untill now...let the world learn about what Godse had to say..check out what justice GD Khosla had to say abt Godse's defence
Another lie always peddled by the entrenched congress ecosystem is that #RSS was involved in Gandhi's murder whereas nothing could be farther from the truth, although Godse does not deny his #RSS association, merely using that to implicate is incorrect..
Like the author says, being of the same political opinion does not constitute complicity in the crime, while distancing from the murder, the #RSS outght to accept that their opinion of Gandhi's policies and rightly so were similar to that of Godse
Another example of how the #Gandhi murder trial was used by #Nehru to settle political score with #Savarkar confirmed by none other than #Ambedkar #KnowYourLegacy
Another one of the failing of #Gandhi was his failure to use his weapon of non violence against his opponents, what use is such a strategy if not used to achieve your political ends viz preventing the division of #India ? #KnowYourLegacy
Here the author discusses abt the ambivalent position taken by #Gandhi leading to the adoption of communal electorates which apparently sowed the seeds for partition #KnowYourLegacy
#Gandhi was a man of contradictions is known to many, in this statement below by #Godse he argues how the ideal of non violence is not a practical one in the real world especially when it comes to defending your country or family .. #KnowYourLegacy
However this what #Gandhi had to say abt disputes between Hindus and Muslims and see how this is a contradiction of his ideal of non violence and also note that he said Hindus are cowards and where there are cowards there will be bullies..
Also note that while he says Hindus should fight but the import of the statement is that they should die defending rather than bring justice to the perpetrators #KnowYourLegacy
#Gandhi had said of Bhagat Singh and other revolutionary fighters as "misguided patriots" and made similar comments abt Rana Pratap, Shivaji and Guru Gobind Singh and this is what #Godse had to say abt it .. #KnowYourLegacy
Having confidence about one's own ideal of non violence is one thing but to say that only my way is superior and the approach of others is not as great or morally not upto the mark is completely wrong way of looking at things.. #KnowYourLegacy
In my view the #Gandhi way of #Satyagraha and non violence contributed very little by way of #India attaining freedom.. #KnowYourLegacy
#Gandhi supported the Khilafat movement which was a movement demanding the restoration of the caliphate, this had nothing to do with the freedom struggle but done to endear himself to Muslims and enlist their support for the freedom struggle
However after he called off the movement after the Chauri Chaura incident, the Muslim anger lead to more riots against Hindus so what was achieved by this step? Is this not a failure on part of #Gandhi ? #KnowYourLegacy
The #QuitIndia movement in 1942 was planned as means to pressurise the British during WW2 to leave, however strategically it was so ill conceived is clear from the following para, also it gave the Muslim League more acceptability with the British #KnowYourLegacy
providing support to the Khilafat movement actually was counter intuitive since the concept of caliphate is trans national and how he thought that identifying with the movement will help him secure Hindu-Muslim unity is a mystery, when it backfired Hindus had to bear the brunt
Moplah riots were a direct result of support to Khilafat movement, and in the wake of #Gandhi withdrwai5 support it resulted in massacres of Hindus which btw Gandhi never cared to condemn, moreover these rioters were given freedom fighter status !! #KnowYourLegacy
Even #Ambedkar has criticised #Gandhi for his silence on crimes committed by Muslims, so now we know that Muslim appeasement has its genesis right from the time of independence movement itself #KnowYourLegacy
Am back after a brief break and will continue tweeting on the book abt the lies perpetrated by followers of #Gandhi and his faults which have never been exposed.. #KnowYourLegacy
As preposterous & shocking as it may sound but #Gandhi actually approved of a proposal of handing over entire India to Muslim League supposedly to avoid #Partition !! a case of giving in to the bully ?? #KnowYourLegacy
Check out what was the attitude of #Gandhi towards Hindu princes vs the Nizam of Hyd, always eager to endear himself to Muslims, not a bad quality per se, but at the expense of the Hindus ? Can't we expect fairness at least ?? #KnowYourLegacy
This is for those who still say that India as a coherent unit never existed and it was just a combination of princely states which was given shape by the Britishers, well hear it what they had to say. #KnowYourLegacy this also destroys the belief that Britishers imposed Partition
Let's accept and call out #Partition for what it was, it was achieved by mobs raping, plundering & killing Hindus & accepted by a spineless "leadership" (if you can call it that ) #KnowYourLegacy #Gandhi
Gandhi's principle of non violence was so skewed, it's almost something which one is unable to come to terms with, according to him even death is preferable to violence instead of defending yourself, how this is considered a noble principle is beyond me #KnowYourLegacy
In the concluding part of his defence #Godse doesn't fail to acknowledge #Gandhi's contribution to the independence movement, but maintains that it was a defeat nevertheless of his principle of non violence #KnowYourLegacy
At the end of #Godse's defence the author proceeds to analyse what other voices have said about the politics and policies of #Gandhi #KnowYourLegacy
Everyone is well aware of the fact about how #Patel was overlooked and #Gandhi insisted about #Nehru being the first PM of India, however the reasoning that #Gandhi himself gives for this is very strange, "Jawahar is the only Englishman in my camp"!! #KnowYourLegacy
This is another of #Gandhi's contradictions, for someone who espoused the cause of swaraj, self rule by native people etc & by the end of it to subvert a democratically elected leader & foisting his own choice & because of this reasoning !! What a fall from grace #KnowYourLegacy
People may debate about what exactly he may have meant by that statement, but no one can deny this that #Patel was denied the PM ship despite being elected by CWC, and this mistake alone has caused #India many problems post independence which continue till date #KnowYourLegacy
In as much we may agree with #Godse on his criticism of #Gandhi, like the author has mentioned the killing of #Gandhi actually made him a larger than life hero, and brought to nought all attempts to critically analyse the decisions taken by him during the freedom struggle..
Or to evaluate whether or not to credit him with certain successes of the freedom struggle.. #India's independence was a result of a combination of varied factors - debt ridden post war Britain, American insistence on decolonisation and also the mutiny of 1946..
#Gandhi's contribution were not the only cause why the British left India although we cannot completely ignore it altogether.. but the fact remains that killing #Gandhi actually made him immortal and beyond questioning.. #KnowYourLegacy
I will end the thread by posting the last few paras of the critical analysis which the author gives viz the criticisms of #Gandhi which were shared by others as well, but unfortunately after the killing it became a taboo topic to discuss #Godse #KnowYourLegacy
