As far as I can tell, the facts don't fit Naomi Wu's narrative. There's nothing wrong with Vice's story, and it's reprehensible that Wu doxxed the home address of the reporters over the dispute.
/ Vice's story is here. While they wouldn't unnecessarily discuss relationships, they would of course investigate controversies her critics bring up.
motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/…
/ And they reported the controversy is probably false. They bring it up to report on the fact how she went bat shit crazy on them for asking her side of the controversy.
/ Vice didn't get her Patreon suspended -- she got her Patreon suspended by doxxing the home address of the Vice reporters. Such doxxing is a vile act that you all should be condemning her for, not supporting her.
/ This is an example of the growing hyper-partisanship in our social media. The facts don't matter, only what side of the partisan divide you are on.
/ This does a disservice to Wu. There is a cultural divide here. She has misconceptions how the press works. Rather than correcting those misconceptions, her fanbase reinforces them with their unquestioned loyalty.
/ For example, she complains it's unethical of the journalists to not let her read the story before it was published. The opposite is true: it's considered unethical to let sources read the story before publication.
/ Oh, I just noticed Patreon's response:
/ As for the accusation Vice broke their agreement to not publish anything about her relationships: they published less than she did in her tweets complaining about the article before it ever appeared.
/ After reading the @vice article on Naomi Wu I still don't know her relationship status or wether LGBTQ. Can somebody point to where in the article it reveals any information about this?
/ This is a joke, of course, since none of you have read the @vice article in question, or you would know it doesn't include the information you claim it does.
/ As far as I can tell, Vice didn't do anything they agreed not to do, counter to Wu's claim. This is what she tweets what Vice agreed to -- and there is nothing in the story that violates it.
