[A Thread} The odious #JohnHoward is a demigod in @liberalaus circles. While the Libs opine on @AlboMP's "broken promise". Let's review some of the desiccated coconut's own litany of lies;

#auspol 1/12 The Lie: “It is our policy, without qualification, to retain Medicare . . . Not only does Medicare stay but so does bulk billing . . . They are the fundamentals, the underpinnings of the policy.” and “Medicare will be retained in its entirety.”

Long ago capitalists put in place a system of laws regarding the trading of public stocks and the timely and accurate release of information that would impact stock prices and/or their growth. #auspol #VoteYes 1/6 They did so to give themselves a level playing field. Strict penalties apply for breaches. #auspol #VoteYes 2/6

[A short thread] The fuss about @DanielAndrewsMP not taking journalists with him to China is a manufactured story by the journos themselves. They are not being "excluded" - they are more than welcome to travel there and report on Andrews if they so wish. #auspol 1/4 It seems to have been sparked by a few Murdochistas who suggest because Andrews is not inviting them, he must be hiding something. Given the way they have treated Andrews over the last few years it's no surprise he won't make it easy for them. #auspol 2/4

[A Thread] My observations on @TurnbullMalcolm at the #RobodebtRC: Turnbull as PM proved to be completely spineless as Party leader and National leader. He was probably Australia's most disappointing PM. Because he lacked courage. #auspol 1/5 Leaders need courage. They need to do the right thing, even if it is not the popular thing, and that takes courage. Ask @DanielAndrewsMP - he has courage in spades and used every bit of it during the pandemic. #RobodebtRC #auspol 2/5

[A Thread] The #Teals have always been moderate Liberals at heart. Their stance on super contributions should surprise nobody. There has been a myth that they are lefties because they took seats off Liberals. #auspol 1/4 The #Teals took Liberal seats off moderate Liberals who had been neutered by the ultra-conservative religious right faction within the Liberal Party. That doesn't make them lefties, just unencumbered Liberals. #auspol 2/4

[A Thread] Today is modern New Zealand's birthday; #WaitangiDay. Today commemorates the day in 1840 when the Treaty was first signed between Great Britain and many (but not all) Maori Tribal Chiefs. #auspol #nzpol 1/7 The treaty gave sovereignty to Great Britain, but guaranteed Maori land, resource rights and political representation - all of which are still in place today (despite challenges along the way). #auspol #nzpol 2/7

[A Thread] The NT crime wave.

Alcohol in indigenous communities has been problematic for as long as anyone can remember. Nor is it unique to Australia. I've seen it in Inuit communities in Canada and Greenland. #auspol 1/8 In 2012, the Gillard Labor government implemented its Stronger Futures program to help address the issue in the NT. It did not eliminate the problem but it certainly significantly reduced it to more manageable levels. #auspol 2/8

[A Thread] Dutton's sole motivation is to undermine @AlboMP. Whether #TheVoice is a good (or bad) thing for Australia, and in particular our First Nations People, is completely irrelevant to him. #auspol 1/4 As a result, he is undermining #theVoice through obtuse demands for more information (that's already available) to attack on Albo. His actions are not based on what is best for Australia, they are based on getting what he sees as a personal win. #auspol 2/4

Both the Cookers and @liberalvictoria (yes, I know there is some crossover) failed abysmally in #VicVotes for much the same reasons. They each exist inside information bubbles/echo chambers that don't mirror reality. #auspol 1/4 Most @LiberalVictoria MPs have blocked every dissenting voice on social media. They read only Murdoch's rags, listen only to 3AW and watch only @skynewsaust and consort only with people like themselves. They believed their own BS. #auspol 2/4

[A Thread] Make no mistake. #Robodebt was rooted in Pentecostal prosperity theology, coupled with Libertarian economics. A vile combination. It was initiated by Morrison as Social Services Minister. #auspol #RobodebtRC 1/7 Expanded by Morrison as Treasurer and then handed off to fellow Pentecostal, and Morrison bestie, Stuart Robert, then Government Services Minister - who went on to vigorously defend the now illegal scheme. #auspol #RobodebtRC 2/7

[A Thread] Although many of us were saying it for years, @ScottMorrisonMP has been exposed both anecdotally and formally as being utterly unscrupulous and without any semblance of basic ethics or morality. His character was well-known with his @liberalaus party. #auspol 1/6 That his colleagues actually chose such an individual to be their leader is a severe indictment on @liberalaus as a political institution. If he was the best they had, how bad were the rest of them? #auspol 2/6

[A Thread] The Stock Exchange (@ASX) has very strict laws and rules regarding the timely disclosure of information that could affect share prices. These were put in place to protect shareholders' from unscrupulous Directors. #auspol 1/4 Our parliament needs similar laws. If we regard polling as akin to share pricing. Laws should force the timely disclosure of information by governments (and oppositions) that could affect voter intentions (polling). #auspol 2/4

[A thread] The warning flags for @LiberalAus should have gone up in Nov 2018, when the Andrews VIC Labor govt stormed through to its second term. Poor talent, religious zealotry and a lacklustre campaign by the Libs saw Andrews win in a landslide. #auspol 1/5 The Libs didn't heed the warning from VIC and doubled down on its incompetence for the WA State election in Mar 2021. As a result the McGowan WA Labor government was returned with a massive majority, leaving the Libs with only 2 seats in parliament. #auspol 2/5

[A thread] Morrison is a Pentecostal. That means he's bought into their hocus hook line & sinker. To have religious faith means having the ability to consciously suspend logic & critical thinking in the face of overwhelming contrary evidence - believing your own BS. #auspol 1/5 On vaccines, Morrison placed his absolute faith in AstraZeneca, to the detriment of superior mRNA offerings. So much so did he believe this crap that he didn't even bother to order Pfizer, even when the company approached him to. #auspol 2/5

[A thread] Morrison is gearing up for an election based on "freedom". His rhetoric the last few days has been around giving Australians choices (he actually used this justify his #EV backflip). #auspol 1/9 Morrison is subtly, and not so subtly, painting Labor as anti-freedom and dictatorial. He is being backed of course by Murdoch. He cannot fight an election on fiscal rectitude as he has blown out a trillion dollar debt and tripled the deficit. #auspol 2/9
