Dear @AlistairMcInto7, I have had enough of your campaign of harassment. If it continues, I will be raising it with the Party and considering other steps to stop it. This kind of conduct is completely unbecoming of a local Labour branch secretary. 1/6
For years now, you have felt it acceptable to troll me in this persistent, excessive and thoughtless manner. As you are a member of my local Party and as someone who does not shy away from criticism, I have let you. But this cannot continue. 2/6

The #RefugeeBanBill is a deplorable, illegal & unworkable attempt to rip up the human rights of some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
It comes from a Tory Government desperate to divide & distract us during an economic crisis exacerbated by their policies.
🧵

Instead of offering safe routes to sanctuary in the UK, the Government is attempting to ban asylum and human rights claims from people who have escaped some of the worst horrors in the world and forcibly remove them instead, with sweeping new detention powers pending this.

Today, the Supreme Court rules on whether it is lawful for the Government to charge children £1,012 to register their entitlement to citizenship.
Whatever the outcome, it’s immoral that children are being priced out of their rights.
It’s daylight robbery and has to end.
The UK child registration fee is one of the highest in Europe:
THREAD 🧵
In November, a @HumanRightsCtte report pointed out that the NHS "acknowledge and regret this disparity but have no target to end it".
That's scandalous.
The Government has long been aware of these disparities and failed to address them.

Today marks one year since Belly Mujinga was spat at whilst working as a ticket collector.
She died from COVID-19 just days later.
The unanswered questions around her death require an inquest & a full public inquiry #JusticeforBellyMujinga
THREAD 1/14🧵
Unanswered questions:
1. Why was Belly sent out to work on the station concourse at all, given her underlying respiratory condition (sarcoidosis)?
2. Why was she working without PPE at the time?
3. Why did it take a doctor's phone call for her employer to let her shield?

I'll be voting against The Covert Human Intelligence Sources Bill today.
This is the latest chapter in the attempt to wrest key scrutiny powers away from the judiciary, place British authorities beyond the law, and squash dissent.
A thread 👇🏾

This Bill would give legal sanction to a host of illegal actions - grave human rights breaches including murder, torture, sexual violence and a rafter of civil liberty violations. 2/8

We study the past, to live the present, with an eye on the future.
As well as celebrating #BlackHistoryMonth we need to talk about about Stop & Search...
#BlackLivesMatter
Intelligence-led stop & search can play a role in keeping us all safe but treating people like this is counter-productive & wrong.
The 14 year old in this video had just been bought a bike by his grandfather.
He wants to stay anonymous but did write this about his experience👇🏾

Voting down the #CoronavirusAct would give the Government 21 days to propose a new framework that MPs can actually scrutinise & amend.
The current legislation gives the Government sweeping powers, without placing obligations on them to support the public.
Let's fix this. 1/8
Under Sec 98(1) if the #CoronavirusAct is voted down this leaves 21 days until its provisions expire.
After 6 months, we know what’s working and what isn’t.
21 days is enough time to put down new provisions with proper scrutiny. 2/8
As #coronavirus cases increase locally (up to 36 cases in #Lambeth as of yesterday), more & more constituents are writing to me to complain that they cannot access testing. 1/6
One constituent writes to say they were sent to Romford to get a #coronavirus test for their child - a 3-hour round trip.
Another explains how he has tried without success to book a test for his wife. 2/6

Countries around the world have clearly got the @WHO memo about testing but in the 6th richest economy in the world, our Government has questions to answer about our low ranking (currently number 30 in terms of tests per people according to yesterday's data).

1. Several Labour MPs can’t be in Parliament today because we are self isolating due to #COVID-19 symptoms. @NadiaWhittomeMP@_OliviaBlake@KateOsborneMP2. There is no means for us to intervene in the debate remotely, but we have many questions that need to be answered.

I know many of my constituents are concerned about #Coronavirus and there’s no denying that the weeks ahead are going to hold challenges for all of us.
I wanted to share some practical advice and thoughts about how we're going to get through this together.
Please keep up-to-date with the latest NHS medical advice as this is liable to alter over the coming days as the situation worsens. nhs.uk/conditions/cor…

Sorry to report that I’ve been self-isolating after experiencing #Coronavirus symptoms over the weekend.
The NHS are saying stay at home for (at least) 7 days if you have either a high temperature or a new, continuous cough.
This period of self-isolation could increase so I will continue to follow the latest NHS advice and encourage others to do the same nhs.uk/conditions/cor…
