I was honored to visit #Taiwan this week and bring the greetings of a very good friend of Taiwan, President Donald Trump. The visit strengthened the friendship between the United States and Taiwan and highlighted the global health leadership of Taiwan. Image Thank you President Tsai @iingwen for warmly welcoming our delegation. We spoke about the friendship between the United States and Taiwan and how our shared democratic values have driven success in health. Image

Reports of President Trump looking to replace me are #FakeNews. The media continues to smear @POTUS and his Administration’s fight against #COVID19 and grossly overlook the historic whole-of-government response that we’ve been delivering under the President’s leadership. While the #FakeNews media and their leaker allies collude to destroy this President, his Administration is following his leadership 24/7 to protect Americans and end a global health crisis.

Today we announced that @TheJusticeDept and @HHSGov partnered to distribute more than half a million medical supplies confiscated from price gougers to those on the frontline of the #COVID10 response in New York and New Jersey—including approximately 192,000 N95 respirator masks. The @FBI discovered the supplies during an enforcement operation by DOJ's COVID-19 Hoarding and Price Gouging Task Force on March 30 and alerted HHS. We used our authority under Defense Production Act to order that the supplies be immediately furnished to the US.

I’m pleased to announce that as a result of discussions between the Trump Administration and Gilead Sciences, Inc., Gilead has agreed to make a historic donation of #HIV prevention medication for up to 200,000 individuals each year for up to 11 years. The agreement will provide pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to treat individuals who are at risk for HIV and who are uninsured, including in the states and counties identified as priority areas in @POTUS’s plan to #EndHIVEpidemic in America.

.@POTUS and I will not stop our work until list prices go down. All options are on the table. We will continue with more regulatory and legislative proposals, and we will work with Democrats and Republicans, until we see list prices come down. Maintaining the status quo, where higher priced drugs are more competitive and patients pay more, is unacceptable. Companies that announced price increases in January admitted they were doing so to funnel payments back to PBMs in order to keep the preferred status of their drugs.
