ISTIKHARAH
The term “Istikharah” generally means to look for Allah’s guidance, support and supervision in the easiness or removal of any confusion in any matter before making any crucial decision or taking up any critical task. ImageImageImageImage It requires absolute faith in the Almighty as the ultimate Knower of things (both seen and unseen, and whatever lies in the entire universe) to be able to seek His direction for the successful execution of a matter.

Alhamdulillah we ve made progress in following the accurate sighting of the moon in Nigeria since the forming of the National moonsighting commitee @moonsightingng by H.E the Sultan of Sokoto.
In Nigeria we used to celebrate Eid el Fitr before the conjunction of the Shawwal crescent.
A conjunction is the event when the earth, moon and sun, in that order, are approximately in a straight line. It is referred to as an astronomical new moon, as the continue to orbit we can see a tiny crescent with our eyes some hours after conjunction.

MOON SIZE AND APPEARANCE TONIGHT 30TH RAMADAN
Usually on the 30th the crescent should be easily visible and should appear big. Moonset is mostly more than an hour after sunset if the conjunction occurred before sunset the previous day. InshaAllah this evening because conjunction occurred 8pm after sunset last night, by sunset tonight the crescent will be about 22hrs plus old and will set about 42 mins after sunset inshaAllah but it will not be easily visible. This will further confirm that conjunction occurred

A brief note on the size of crescent when first sighted. #Thread by Prof @uanafaty
Assalamu Alaikum,
Islam is a simple religion yet it is also a religion of knowledge, wisdom, guidance and practice. Nothing is left for people to guess or decide simply based on personal opinions From time immemorial and every now and then, the issue of the size of the crescent on the first day of the lunar month keeps on coming up again and again. Many people in the Muslim communities raise objections that the crescent appears too big to be counted as 1st of the month,

Eid mubarak, May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) accept our worship ameen.

For years Ramadan begins or ends with some controversies about sighting of the crescent in Nigeria, in 2008 we had three different Eid days in Nigeria. In 2009 NSCIA under the leadership of H.E the Sultan of Sokoto organized a National conference in Abuja to discuss the solution to moonsighting issues in Nigeria. Scholars, experts and academicians were invited from all over Nigeria. It was agreed that the NSCIA should have a

A BRIEF EXPLANATION OF SAUDI’S ISLAMIC LUNAR DATE AND NIGERIA’S LUNAR DATE .

As usual Ramadan is approaching and i have been receiving so many messages asking me why our lunar date is different from Saudi’s. I ll try my possible best to explain it in a very simple way inshaallah Generally Saudi use their pre calculated Ummul Qura calendar for other months apart from Ramadan, Shawwal and sometimes Dhul Hijjah. In these months the rely on positive sighting of the crescent with naked eye and optical aid ( telescopes etc).

BRIEF HISTORY OF ISLAMIC HIJRI CALENDAR
Short #Thread

The Islamic calendar was introduced by Amirul mu’mineen Umar bin Al Khattab (رضي الله عنه) the second Caliph of Islam in 17AH/638 AD. The reason for introduction of the calendar was because of conflicting, dating systems being used during that time period. One narration is, a case was referred to Amirul Mu’mineen ‘Umar (رضي الله عنه ) concerning a contract that one man had with another

These days when Muslims give advise or denounce an unislamic act publicly done by a fellow Muslim, some Muslims will say “ who are you to judge them? only God can judge them” the Sahabas R.A when advised to fear Allah, will thank the person with tears in their eyes. it is every muslims duty to speak the truth and accept that truth, even if it is against themselves.
"O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor”

SALAT TIMES AND THE MOVEMENT OF THE SUN
The five daily prayers are an integral part of a Muslim’s life. In order to fulfill our religious obligation, it is important for all Muslims to
know the timings of all the daily prayers. Praying Fajr, Zuhr and Maghrib prayers in the right time is not a problem in Nigeria, Asr & Isha are the two prayers that are mostly prayed before time in certain periods of the year.Zuhr & Maghrib are prayed on time because the times of “noon” and “sunset” are well defined.

Eid Mubarak

Later tonight the moon will be clearly visible and the usual debate on the size will start, some will claim it’s 2 days old and some 3 days old by mere looking at its size. The moon will be about 32 hrs old tonight by sunset, it’s altitude will be about 16 degrees and it will set about 1hr 12mins after sunset in most locations in Nigeria. So technically 32hrs is 1.3 days, generally the crescent becomes visible after 20 hrs

The conjunction of Shawwal crescent (New Moon) will occur Inshallah on (Monday 03 June 2019) at 11:02 AM.
Sighting the new crescent on (Monday 03 June 2019) and (Tuesday 4 June 2019) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh It is impossible to see the crescent from areas located under the red color. Because either the Moon on this day sets before Sunset and/or the conjunction occurs after Sunset.
The crescent is expected to be seen by optical aid only from the areas located under the blue color.
