SC: Centre shall, within 2 weeks, formulate a national
policy on admissions to hospitals which shall be followed by all State Governments.
SC: Till the formulation of such a policy by the Central Government, no patient shall be denied hospitalization or essential drugs in any State/UT for lack of local residential proof of that State/UT or even in the absence of identity proof.

The Union Cabinet Secretary tells Delhi Government to make all efforts to lift their allocated oxygen, using all the means at their disposal; and also to ensure that the oxygen available to them is distributed rationally and in a transparent manner.
On the issue of adequate medical and healthcare human resources, he asked the Delhi Government to create flexible procedures to engage the services of retired medical professionals.
Cabinet Secretary also asked for further augmentation of testing facilities and timely availability of test results.

The Delhi HC tells the Centre to look at the logistics problem being faced in the transportation of #Oxygen to Delhi.
Delhi HC directs the Delhi govt to file a status report with regard to the number of RT-PCR tests conducted by the accredited labs in the last 7 days, along with the testing capacity of these accredited labs and the reasons for the fall in the numbers of tests conducted by them
"We have to shun selfishness, greed&indifference.We, therefore, appeal to the good sense of the people, including the sellers of necessary medicines&Oxygen, to not to resort to hoarding of, and black marketing of Oxygen cylinders, Oxygen flow metres or medicines", Delhi HC says.

SC's order in suo motu Covid case is out. Says the purpose of the court taking suo motu cognisnace is not supplant or to substitute the judicial process which is being conducted in several High Courts. No justification to interdict the High Courts.

The Centre, in its affidavit in the SC, says it has been working hard for over a year to ensure that a maximum number of Indians are able to get the vaccine in the shortest possible time.

"India is vaccinating people at world record pace,", the affidavit states

The Centre adds that it has been continuously working towards getting the production of #Remdesivir ramped up on a war footing.

"The Government is also monitoring the supply and distribution Remdesivir and Tociluzumab through NPPA and CDSCO", the affidavit states.

"The Central Government, with active and constant
supervision and direct involvement of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister is augmenting the #oxygen supply on a war footing evolving and implementing innovative measures", the Centre's affidavit says.

A Karnataka court prohibits 68 media houses from telecasting, publishing, circulating, posting, accommodating or transmitting any defamatory news items or showing footage and pictures of six state ministers in relation to the alleged CDs.
Court: Prima facie although no C.Ds. are released, yet which are claimed in the said news items, it is being sensationalized that there are 19 more C.Ds.
Court: Of 19 influential persons and they may be released any time and they pertain to sex scandals& there is even reference to some Ministers. From the said printouts it is prima facie seen that Media houses have still not received any CDs but news items are being telecasted.

Allahabad HC rejects the anticipatory bail plea of Aparna Purohit. Says western filmmakers have refrained from ridiculing Lord Jesus or the Prophet but hindi filmmakers have done this repeatedly and still doing this most unabashedly with the Hindu Gods and Goddesses.

Allahabad HC: This Court further takes notice of the fact that a number of movies have been produced which have used the name of Hindu Gods and Goddesses and shown them in a disrespectful manner (Ram Teri Ganga Maili, Satyam Shivam Sundram, P.K., Oh My God, etc.).
Allahabad HC: Not only this, efforts have been made to subvert the image of historical and mythological personalities (Padmavati). Names and icons of faith of majority community have been used to earn money (Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela).

Centre opposes petitions seeking recogisation of same-sex marriages. Says the acceptance of the institution of marriage between two individuals of the same gender is neither recognized nor accepted in any uncodified personal laws or any codified statutory laws.

Centre: Constitutional court can analyze the existing rights but cannot create a new right by the process of judicial adjudication.
Centre: Article 21 cannot be expanded to extend to include the fundamental right for a same-sex marriage to be recognised under the laws of the country which in fact mandate the contrary.

The Bombay HC upholds bail given to Areeb Majeed, a Kalyan resident facing UAPA charges for travelling to Iraq and Syria to join ISIS. Bail upheld as the accused had been incarcerated for more than six years as an undertrial. Majeed argued his case in person. ImageImageImageImage
HC: We have observed that Majeed is an educated person, who was completing his graduation in Civil Engineering when he left for Iraq at the age of 21 years. He categorically stated before us that as a 21-year-old, he was carried away and that he had committed a serious mistake,
.....for which he had already spent more than six years behind bars. In the past more than six years of his incarceration, Majeed has argued his case on his own before the NIA Court.

A three-judge bench comprising Justices D Y Chandrachud, Indu Malhotra and K M Joseph to commence hearing at 12 noon, a plea seeking a ban on the #SudarshanTV's show on the so-called “infiltration of Muslims” in the Civil Services.
The Court on Sep 15 had restrained #SudarshanTV from broadcasting the remaining episodes of its show, till further orders.

"An insidious attempt has been made to insinuate that the community is involved in a conspiracy to infiltrate the civil services", the Court had noted.

Yesterday Bhushan reiterated his tweets and declined to apologise.

AG Venugopal: This is a fit case to forgive Bhushan. The statements made by Bhushan should be viewed as request to the court to improve itself.

AG: Bhushan may be given a warning. He need not be punished.

Foreign businessmen coming to India on a Business visa (other than on B-3 visa for sports) in non-scheduled commercial/ chartered flights. 1/n
Foreign Healthcare professionals, health researchers, engineers and technicians for technical work at Indian health sector facilities, including laboratories and factories.  This is subject to a letter of invitation from a recognized and registered healthcare facility, 2/n
Foreign Engineering, Managerial, Design or other Specialists travelling to India on behalf of foreign business entities located in India.  This includes all manufacturing units, design units, software and IT units as well as financial sector companies...3/n

Ministry of Railways in consultation with Health Ministry and MHA has decided that train services on Indian Railways shall be further partially restored w.e.f. from 01st June 2020.

Booking of all these trains will commence from 10 am on 21/05/20. 1/n
These special services shall be in addition to the existing Shramik special trains being run since 01st May and Special AC trains (30 trains) being run since 12th May 2020. 2/n
Other regular Passenger services including all mail/express, passenger and suburban services shall remain cancelled until further advice.

JUST IN: Government of India extends the Lockdown for a further period of two weeks beyond May 4.

MHA issues new guidelines to regulate different activities in this period, based on the risk profiling of the districts of the country into Red (hotspot), Green, Orange Zones. The guidelines have permitted considerable relaxations in the districts falling in Green, Orange Zones.
Under the new guidelines, a limited number of activities will remain prohibited throughout the country, irrespective of the Zone. These include travel by air, rail, metro and inter-State movement by road; running of schools, colleges, and other educational......
