While the AJK Ruling Elites live they lavish lifestyle with luxury mansions and luxury cars with misused public funds! over 43000 Kashmiri refugees from Indian-occupied Kashmir have been forced to live in slums, where a humanitarian crises has been unfolding over the decades.
There is no clean drinking water, and almost all slums stink due to the lack of a sewerage system.
They are also overcrowded up-to 10 people are forced to sleep in each shelter room/tent.
One of them is the Pamposh refugee camp in the Chehlabandi area near Muzaffarabad where dozens of Kashmiri refugee families are forced to live in poverty!
Each shelter in this camp contains a tiny room, tiny bath area and a tiny kitchen.
For years the parents and their grown children have to share a single room.
That’s where they eat their meals, and their children who are students, do their homework while others are try to sleep
and that is where they get married, the poor women also have to give birth to their children.
These photographs depict the daily lives of refugees in the Pamposh refugee camp.
There are enough circumstantial evidences to imply that Azad Kashmir's politicians agreed to the split of Kashmir years ago on the condition that the status quo in Azad Kashmir not be disrupted. They do not want the status quo to be upset because it allows them to justify their opulent lifestyle by exploiting the plight of Kashmiris. However, they cintinued their rhetoric on Kashmir to give a false hope to the people of Indian-Occupied Kashmir.

By default, this policy of having forgotten about IOK amid continuing empty rhetoric has brought innumerable hardships to the people of IOK. But to political elite of Azad Kashmir, it has brought unprecedented perks and privilllges apart from salary raises and luxury cars. There has also been unprecedented corruption in the region since 2016. While in the rest of the world, the war booty comes after the end of the war, the AJK and Pakistani elite have acquired this booty by stepping away from the war the Kashmiris have been fighting to win over their rights.
