@ManduReid says ‘we wouldn’t say the process of voting in self ID as undemocratic had we won’

No. We have been critiquing the process for 4yrs

We didn’t win BECAUSE IT WAS UNDEMOCRATIC & so many women have left.

Only 110 members for a leaders speech tells that story. Mandu’s failure to facilitate robust evidence based discussions means we are in the laughable position that the Party thinks we can have self ID & protect single-sex spaces.

A fact the UN VAWG rapporteur pointed out in her letter to Nicola Sturgeon last week.

WE are really concerned about the project @ManduReid & @WEP_UK are now involved in.

Right2Equality do not have a grasp of #VAWG sector principles nor #maleviolence. Moreover none of the key names have the requisite experience to be campaigning on law not its consequences in this area.

Well this is awkward……

The Women’s Equality Party want your $$$$$$$$$$$$$ (again)

A thread……

#WEconference2022 @WEP_UK
crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fund-womens-… Stared 7 years ago, women flocked. Women gave their time & any money they had. Some donors £50k+ many giving the little they could afford

Those naive enough to believe Party spin may be *shocked to discover the Party has no money, but for feminist women this is no shock at all

🧵 Today @ManduReid gave her key note Conference speech to a staggering 110 people.

This must be a record for the smallest conference speech ever.

It is with profound pain that we tweet this. A speech high in emotion & platitudes, low in content.

Huge claims, included ‘bringing down Borris’s government. Yes really.

Since last conference, full of promise around donut economy, Black maternal deaths & more have amounted to nothing.

No campaigns. Zero.

@ManduReid's leadership has will sadly become knownfor dismissing expertise & the majority view of Party members on self ID.

The Party's assembly was clear in its support of single-sex spaces, yet #wep #groundhogday brings back the same tired motion that was rejected previously @ManduReid This week Reem Alsalem, the UN #VAWG rapporteur wrote to Hollyrood to intervene on similar self ID policies (#GRRBill).

It is unacceptable to WEP party members that her voice, alongside ours, should be dismissed.

Whew! This is Sarah taking over the tweets from our wonderful A. She has done a grand job launching #RespectMySex and speaking to @WEP_UK candidates. Unfortunately, this has also filled our mentions with some grim content... (1/7) I just want to say thank you to all our feminist sisters slogging it out here in Twitter, it's not always an easy place to be. Nobody wants to be dealing with porn-soaked replies about sex toys whilst making the kids' lunch... (2/7)

1] Disappointing to see @TabithaMortonWE stating that Sani's What Is A Woman is a 'MUST read'

The article starts with a bizarre interpretation of Bouvoir, & suggests 'British Feminism' has toxic corners when it comes to women discussing their own sex

prospectmagazine.co.uk/magazine/what-… @TabithaMortonWE The article uses images of the Hijra. India ruled in 2014 that a third gender marker & 3RD spaces, so no, this is not the 'corners of British feminism' discussing this

Many Hijra are openly gay men because of Indian homophobia (homosexuality is illegal)

1] Essential blog Post from @ShonaghDillon of @AuroraNewDawn

An analysis of evidence submitted to the #GRA consultation by #VAWG services

A must read for @ManduReid @TabithaMortonWE & all women who have survived #MVAWG

A shame to see @WEP_UK missing

'Out of 837 submissions there are only six (that I can find and I did trawl through all of them but could well have missed one), from organisations that work within the male violence against women movement'

Here is the Caucus submission

#IStandWithMaya ❤️

We hope @WEP_UK @WEP_Scot @WEP_Wales @ManduReid are following Maya Forstarter's appeal today

An appeal that gets to the very crux of women's rights in the UK today- women's right to say #sexmatters

Case details 👇🏿

It is vital that @WEP_UK get to grips with the issues at the crux of this appeal

It is also key that the @EHRC is intervening on behalf of Maya & indicates how far we have come despite the silence of our feminist leaders at WEP

We are really disappointed to see prominent members of @WEP_UK use #LesbainVisibilityWeek to promote ideas such as 'cis lesbian'

@WEP_UK has agreed that 'cis' is an offensive & reductive term

WE say no to the homophobic erasure of #lesbians
No lesbian has a penis
#LVW21 Lesbian's are same sex attracted. In law this is described as an orientation. This is key as this embeds the idea that lesbianism is not a choice or a kink.

It is this terminology that has protected lesbians (in law) against conversion, punishment, shaming & corrective rape.

The callous nature of our 'immigration' system manifests itself into daily horrors

When we campaigned for the end of Yarl's wood style detention facilities did we imagine that this would lead into a further lowering of standards in 'open accommodation'

theguardian.com/global-develop… 'open' facilities like Brigstock house are staffed and families are essentially under a curfewed house arrest.

UKBA documents outlining it's plans claim that vulnerable families with specific medical needs are “not suitable for the open accommodation.”

The opening testimony from at the @WEP_UK members assembly on self ID stated that 'trans women face the same risks from men as women and girls do'....🧐.

Time for a #WEPfactcheck

#debateisnothate The UK is one of the safest EU countries to live. In fact there were no reported transgender murders in the UK at all in 2016. Since the start of the Trans Murder Monitoring project in 2008 there has been on average just under 1 transgender person murdered in the UK each year.
