Supreme Court reverses and remands Obamacare decision. Holds the plaintiffs didn't have standing to challenge the individual mandate because they have not shown a past or future injury fairly traceable to the defendants' conduct. Court dodges the question of severability.
"They also argue that the minimum essential coverage requirement is not severable from the rest of the Act. Hence, they believe the Act as a whole is invalid. We do not reach these questions of the Act’s validity."

Justice Thomas seemed to push back on the Democratic states that argue the individuals challenging the law haven't suffered the required injury to bring a lawsuit. He wanted to know if someone would have the ability to challenge mask mandates during the pandemic. Alito also seems to think the states have standing. He said the Medicaid eligibility calculation had added to the state's Medicaid rolls.

HHS on Friday released a rule that allows LGBT people to be discriminated against in health care. On Monday, the Supreme Court issued a ruling that will likely kill that rule in court. #LGBTQRights #SCOTUS #PrideMonth #Health #healthcare news.bloomberglaw.com/health-law-and… Monday's ruling focused on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, which bans discrimination in the workplace. HHS's rule Friday focused on the definition of sex in Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, which is based on Title IX.
