I was invited by a good friend to an event in Ocean Springs for the commemoration of their annual Pride celebrations. I met Kristen Sims of Gulf Coast Equality Council and members of their Board of Directors.

On Friday morning, Carmella Causey’s estranged and abusive husband attempted to kill her by setting her home in Gloster, MS on fire with her and her beloved dogs inside. Carmella survived with third degree burns all over her body. She is in critical condition. Causey received emergency medical attention at Southwest Regional Medical Center but was discharged on Friday with third degree burns covering her body. She was then driven by her friend Teresa Ankton, to a burn center in Baton Rouge, where she was admitted.
