Did you notice?

Malaria has come down in India. The govt hospital wards used to be full with falciparum malaria patients during our residency.

Now more patients get admitted with other mosquito-borne infections like dengue and dengue-like illnesses.

What caused this shift? 1/n Image The malaria outbreaks have reduced because of the success of National Malaria Eradication Program. This program focused on the eradication of mosquitoes. Though mosquitoes have become more rampant, malaria has come down.

News agencies reported that Astrazenica has admitted for the first time that its vaccine causes blood clots.

1. OMG, the pharma mafia! What should be done?

There is a new strain of #SARSCoV2 which is on the prowl in India. It is called #XBB1.16 and is highly transmissible. It has also been called #Arcutus. These are very early days for us to know the severity of the disease that can be caused by this variant. The case of swimming heart: 🧵

A 50yr old educator (he has 300k YouTube followers, he tells me while on the cathlab table) had breathlessness, chest and abdominal discomfort along with swelling of feet. Examination and echo showed that he has a massive “pericardial effusion” 1/6 twitter.com/i/web/status/1… Image Normally Heart has a covering: pericardium. Space between Heart and this covering has a very small quantity of fluid. If the fluid becomes more because of infection, inflammation, cancer or any other disease, the heart may get compressed. It is certain that cardiac problems have increased in covid-recovered patients. The nature study amply demonstrated this. There used to be MIs in this population in pre-covid era, but now the cases are certainly high. Many of these young patients do not have the traditional coronary risk factors.
