I have this suspicion that there is an overwhelming silent majority who are not okay with the fictional narrative that “corona is over”, of the mass delusion that we can resume normality ignoring the real and present danger of #sars2. It takes immense strength to speak out.

1/
The #inconvenienttruth is the majority of us do not have agency over our own lives. We rely on a pay check to afford the basic necessities and pleasures. We’re social creatures who need connection with others, in person.

#COVID19 testing before flights makes a difference. It is an extra added layer of protection like masks and vaccination. No pre boarding tickets ensures #massdisabling events on planes because morally bankrupt people will travel while infected.

1/ There was a significant difference between flying to the US that required preboarding testing than returning to Germany— it was impossible to sleep on the red eye flight with passengers violently coughing throughout the flight.

People will fly sick. 2/

Does anyone realize that because of the universal mass infection policies of neoliberal countries, the vast majority of us no longer have access to safe healthcare? That our collective refusal to wear a mask to protect one another comes with the steep price of shortened lives? 🧵 We’ve traded in, at best, 10 life years for the instant gratification of drinking at bars, eating in restaurants, and mindlessly consuming. Was it worth it to massively ignore our health, that of our loved ones, our neighbors, our community? 2/

If the NL cared about “education”, they would implement protections against #sars2 infections to ensure that children and teachers are safe. Sick children cannot learn and sick teachers can’t teach.

The refusal of @MinOCW is violence against children and teachers.

1/
Compulsory attendance in the NL serves one purpose — to ensure childcare facilities so two-income households can continue enriching special interests groups. They’ll squander their health for barely earning a living wage and go on cheap sun holidays.

No I am not ok. Are any of us really? To exist in our current neoliberal societies means to accept the mass psychosis that Covid-19 is harmless, to ignore the climate catastrophe on our doorstep, and the countless mass human atrocities happening in Ukraine. To thrive in…

in this cruel, inhumane environment is to ignore our conscience, our humanity. To become deaf to the ongoing pain, heartache and devastation of our Ukrainian neighbors, to blind ourselves and turn back from the images of pure evil, so we can continue posting our best life.

Note to self — Infection is not a moral failing; nor is getting #longcovid.

I just found out an American expat mom who berated me for criticizing the Dutch mass infection policy and lack of protections in schools has longcovid and so does her child.

It’s hard to muster sympathy for someone who tried to publicly humiliated me; for presenting me as a poorly informed, over-anxious mom in front of a group of (professional) peers. And trying to supress my knee-jerk, awful reaction that her health issues are well-deserved.

I spent almost a month in the U.S. to finalize our repatriation and the following thread is my anecdotal experience. The U.S. is far from a shining citadel on a hill with its unique fresh hells but a much safer alternative to living in the Netherlands in the time of Covid-19 ❤️‍🩹 Flying to the U.S. is much safer than returning to Europe. We flew from Frankfurt airport via @lufthansa . The U.S. requires 24-hour Covid-19 test and the mask policy was strictly enforced. The return was a nightmare — EU policy of no testing and no enforcement of masks.

Actually @ErnstKuipersVWS, #covid19 didn't shatter Dutch society. It was the deliberate choice of this government to pursue a mass infection policy. The mass deaths, long-term disability, and economic damage are direct consequences of the actions of Rutte et al. #persconferentie Image It’s absolutely brilliant to end free tests for all. It ensures the number of people with Covid-19 goes down.

Today, the Dutch government (Kuipers) will announce that almost all measures will be removed. People will be encouraged to resume “normal”.

No, it can't.

The pandemic brought to surface everything that’s broken about our government, institutions, neighbors and friends. 🧵 Dropping masking requirements
and 1.5 m distance will continue the economic and socially damaging opening-closing rollercoaster.

Everything we take for granted— healthcare, education, public transportation etc is no longer properly functional. They’re destroying it.

Anyone else finds it disturbing that the Dutch Prime Minister had yet to acknowledge all the #COVID19 deaths and “excess mortality” (highest in the EU)? That there hasn’t been a single moment of mourning? 🧵 Because what is glaringly missing is a public acknowledgment of the collective grief and mourning from these traumatic 700+ days. That many of us have lost not only loved ones, but our own selves, our health and the lives that we used to have. 🧵2

I can’t wax poetic about missing my “normal” Dutch life b/c it wasn’t all that wonderful. Village life was socially isolating. School was a bizarre alienating place. The only part we miss is the freedom of traveling to different places, exploring museums and vacations. 🧵 There’s nothing much left to return to. People demonstrated willful ignorance, trivializing this virus and long-term sequelae and cowardly accepting all the lies and misinformation. There was no uproar that thousands of elderly and sick died from #COVID19, alone and uncounted.🧵2

Gentle reminder whether your child or family has been infected or not during this #omicron #massdisablingevent, none of us will come out of this unscathed. There’s no “winning” if the vast majority have been traumatized by illness, disability and death. 🧵 Except for a few exceptions since March 2020, my family and I have been strictly living the quarantine life. We’re one of the few families who may not have been infected, but the trauma of social isolation will take time to heal. We can never be part of this society again 🧵2

Living in pandemic NL is bizarre and soul-crushing. We pay an obscene amount of taxes but have no safe access to schools, hospitals/clinics, grocery stores, or parks. Even getting vaccinated is a serious transmission risk when centers ask people to remove their masks post-shot 🧵 The November peak was not from #omicron — it was from #delta. A “lockdown” and school closure was to prevent the hospitals from collapsing. Our #omicron peak will happen the moment they soon open schools with no mitigations upon societal pressure 🧵2

A reason why I am so vocal about protecting children from this neurodegenerative virus that causes overall system damage is b/c when I was a child, not a single adult spoke out against all the abuse that my siblings and I experienced. I promised myself at 7, it stops with me. 🧵 At 7, I had more sense than all the adults around me. It took a pandemic for me to realize that many “adults” don’t speak out not because they can’t recognize the danger or dysfunction, but lack the courage to stare it down and fight against it 🧵2

Holland’s favorite pediatrician has exciting news — when the NL enforced compulsory in-person attendance in crowded, poorly ventilated classrooms, insisting on no safety measures, a vast majority of children were infected with #covid19. 🧵 Bruijning exemplifies how our own institutions continue to fail us, directly violating the Nuremberg Code of Ethics to do no harm in human experimentation. Deliberate mass infection of children with a Class A virus while spreading misinformation is criminal. 🧵2

What is harrowing to witness is how the Dutch are complacently allowing unscrupulous politicians and scientists tell them that their lives do not matter, that their children don’t deserve protection and that their elderly and sick do not need care. That this is all “normaal” 🧵 While neighboring countries are franctically preparing for #omicron, the NL is giving it a welcome party, complete with assuring the public all is well and to look forward to less restrictions. This is psychotic. 🧵2

What exactly is Rutte’s vision of the NL? A more ruthless neoliberal version of the US where people not only have an extreme tax burden but have to pay for safe access to daily life in addition? 🧵 Why aren’t more people outraged that our collective tax money is being used to subsidize the extreme wealthy and friends of the Dutch government? Not only are they allowing this virus to spread, but capitilizing on our mass suffering on every aspect of this pandemic. 🧵2

Full disclosure: I grew up as a child of immigrant parents in the U.S. They tried, to the best of their ability, to give me and my siblings a good life. The @Gezondheidsraad refusing to recommend #covid19 vaccines for ALL children is triggering because I know the implications 🧵 .@Gezondheidsraad refusing to vaccinate all children means that children from underprivileged backgrounds, the working class who cannot safely shelter, will continue to be exposed, much more than their privileged counterparts 🧵2

Dutch pediatricians who advocate for the mass (re) infection of children with #sarscov2 are not only a danger to the health and well-being of children and their families, but threatens the fabric of Dutch society and whatever remaining fragmented solidarity there is.

🧵 #sarscov2 always affected children. It was to keep the “economy” going.
#omicron is now sending toddlers to the hospital. The NL does not have enough beds but Illy and Bruijning stand firm in mass infection. 🧵2

Being deeply worried about the coming weeks and taking appropriate measures NOW is the only rational response when our hospitals are in reality phase #codezwart . Waiting to research #omicron is negligent incompetence and a dereliction of duty by the Dutch government.

🧵 Preliminary research of #omicron is enough to scare even the most level-headed, sober virologists—
🎯 An estimated R0 between 8 and 10.
🎯 Immune | sera escape from both vaccinated and convalescent (infected)

We will be ravaged by #omicron in a matter of WEEKS.

We are in a state of emergency. Our hospitals are days away from #codezwart, the government is psychotically insisting schools stay open, insisting on mass infection and 20+ months of misinformed and gaslighted public who has had enough. Now we have the #nuvariant #B11529.

🧵 .#B11529 #nuvariant is a Black Swan that is 7x more transmissible than the Delta variant, with preliminary estimates of an R0 of 16-20 and is likely to have immune escape, both from vaccines and infection. It is a monster.
