How did Britain become so resistant to National ID cards?

It began in 1950, culminating in the repeal of the National Registration Act [1939] by Winston Churchill in 1952.

The man at the centre of this who sparked and helped shift public sentiment against ID cards was called Clarence Willcock.

Here's what happened...Image Willcock was stopped for a minor traffic offence [speeding] on December 7th 1950 while driving his car along Ballard's Lane, Finchley, North London, by uniformed police constable Harold Muckle, who demanded to see the motorist's identity card.

Willcock refused. PC Muckle told him to produce the compulsory card at the local station with 48 hours. "I will not produce it at any police station," Willcock replied.Image

With the encryption clause still present, there's a lot of things people can do to protect their speech online as well as countering surveillance 👇 The more people that are in the Linux community the better.

America have stopped printing #COVID19 vaccination records which could used for international travel.

The #NHS still have a COVID-Pass available until 31st March 2024 even though there's SEVEN countries left in the world with entry measures. 🚨 EXCL: We queried DHSC on the total cost to the taxpayer for the development & implementation of the #NHS COVID Pass system before/after launch on 17th May 2021 until present.

After reviewing awarded contracts, the final amount is likely to *far exceed* what we were told. Two of the biggest contracts were awarded to both @netcompany_uk & Teleperformance Ltd for both £18m & £25m.

🗓️ One year ago today, 369 MP's voted to implement the 'Health Protection (Entry to Venues) S.I. No. 1416, requiring certain businesses to request the domestic #NHS COVID Pass for entry.

126 MP's voted against these measures.

🧵 As reported by @PublicTech, the 'National Communications Data Service' will be able to filter out #UK citizens internet connection records (ICR) through a National Service by the end of 2022.

When the Home Office, NCA & 16 leading internet providers were questioned - silence. 🔴 According to @PublicTech, no official announcement was made by the Govt or other authorities about the expansion of these activities into a National Service, which would allow LEA's to access info on sites visited by #UK citizens.

🧵 Thanks to info from @PublicTech, we reported on the new 'National Situation Centre' who awarded a six month contract to @Telefonica_En for access to its 'Motion & Data Insights' service.

The data provided to SitCen by @O2 represents around a third of the #UK population. '02 Motion' claim that customer data is 'aggregated & anonymised'. To our knowledge this data is being shared without customer knowledge or consent.

'Anonymised' could mean either fully anonymised or 'pseudo-anonymised' - where data could be re-identified. This isn't clear.

🧵Over the past few days there's been much speculation regarding point 23 of the #G20 Leaders Declaration & global #vaccinepassports. Our analysis:

1⃣ The use of digital/non digital solutions for another respiratory virus like 'pandemic' are *useless*.
