Les années bissextiles ont été crées par l'astronome Grec Sosigène pour la réforme du calendrier voulue par l'Imperator Jules César. 
En 46 AVJC Jules César veut en effet réformer le calendrier romain républicain.
Il le remplace par le calendrier Julien (de Jules César). Il s'agit d'un calendrier Solaire, plus simple et plus précis.

It started when I saw a commercial for the movie Escape Room 2: Tournament of Champions
I noticed the white and black checkerboard floor and the black cube
The characters are in a bank called "Illuminus Bank"

Today is the first #newmoon after the summer #solstice meaning it's 1 Hekatombaion - Athenian New Year! The Athenians had a number of calendars in use; Hekatombaion was the first month of the lunisolar 'festival calendar'.
New holders of civic offices would be sworn in, swearing oaths, with the gods as their witness, to fulfil their duties in a manner befitting the office. Athenian #democracy relied on its citizens' (free Athenian men) direct participation in the councils, assemblies and courts.
The latest batch of #ephebes - 18-year-old sons of citizens - were called up. They'd swear an oath to defend Athens and never shame the city. Two years of training would start turning boys into well-disciplined #hoplites; they gained a cloak, a spear, a shield and #citizenship.
At winter solstice, the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, the sun shines down this 5,000 year old passage and hits the back wall. The Neolithic chambered mound lies about 500m off the Brittany coast, on the small island of Gavr'inis.
These beautifully carved stone slabs support a 17-tonne stone slab acting as the roof of the tomb. At the time of its construction, c. 3500 B.C., the island was still connected with the mainland, and is today only accessible by boat.

I'll start things off with Tregeseal East Stone Circle ('The Dancing Stones'). 19 stones, once part of a system of 2 or even 3 circles.
Under Carn Kenidjack 'The Hooting Cairn' with Tregeseal Holed Stones nearby. A fantastic place.

19 stones, possibly part of the Carn Galver processional route.
Sometimes overlooked due to being near the more famous Mên-an-Tol but one of my favourites. An hour here at dusk, alone, is really very special.

Most people know the basics of visual perception, the rod and cone cells that let us see color and contrast. But I'm here today to talk about something more obscure: how we detect days and seasons.
(But I could discuss some fun tricks of the visual "basics" in the new year, if that sounds fun!)
