Our #TeVE virtual event with @QShepherd is live! You can join us to talk about how he's approaching conversations about #COVID19 as a supt: thoughtexchange.com/virtual-events…

Dr. Shepherd launched an exchange asking his staff's thoughts and questions about #coronavirus and how the district should approach it. He's built a culture of conversation with #thoughtexchange and the participation was through the roof.

Answering thoughts to honor them and let your staff know they're heard is essential:

The #differences panel has given @QShepherd some key points to address in VISD's #COVID19 information campaign. Identifying what information people need, and where their #commonground is.

"You can imagine this conversation playing out on social media in a very different way." That's what is so amazing about #Thoughtexchange - the conversation is measured, complex, and understanding of everyone's #perspectives.

"People panic when the unknown meets the unexpected" - and #coronavirus needs to be made known and understood as fast as possible. An #exchange is the perfect way to understand what people know and how you can help them understand better.

Some great questions in the #COVID19 exchange we just ran with @QShepherd

The biggest takeaway is leading this way all the time - building this culture of the #complex, and having these conversations between #leadership and #staff as much as possible. #Thoughtexchange is built for those conversations!

"How often does your staff participate in exchanges?" @QShepherd uses exchanges for the big stuff, and the little stuff. Culture, Facilities, Principal hires, Student exchanges. Sometimes there's higher engagement, other times not as high - and we always respond.

How do you balance your response with info from Public Health? @QShepherd - we're not sending out #coronavirus information that can be found on #CDC and #PublicHealth. The school district is only responsible for *its response* to CDC/PH info!

Thanks so much to @QShepherd for the valuable info about how #VISD is handling its #COVID19 response! And thank you to everyone who attended and participated in the exchange! Check out our upcoming #TeVirtualEvents here: bit.ly/teve-cal
