(Thread) It’s shocking to see the actions of Secretary of State Mike #Pompeo and the immaturity of #US Government officials. Now they are ordering #China to close its consulate in Houston for protection of American interests? If this goes through, #Beijing will retaliate
and order the closing of the US consulate in #HongKong and further weaken US-China relations. I'm worried about war between #US & #China.
This is very different than the threats of a war with the Soviet Union during the #ColdWar era. Why?
Because at that time the Soviet’s economy was crumbling. China has a strong military and even stronger economy. They also remember 150 yrs of suffering through the Opium Wars. #China will not be intimidated by #America.
The #US government does not want to go down this path, it’s a battle they will not win.
The world wins if #China and the #United States work together.
This is why I always preach cooperation. #China is willing to work together, but will the #UnitedStates swallow their pride and look at China as an equal instead of the country it was 40 years ago?
