4/7:Kadri Simon of the European Commission echoed the need for projects & agreements to remain flexible & forward thinking. She urges infrastructure to be built in a way that would support renewable transitions in the future & cautions against long-term natural gas agreements.
5/7: Speaking about the global state of energy, US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm said, while Europe is focused on keeping the lights on, many places in Africa are looking to connect people to electricity & we cannot assume these countries can jump right into #renewables.
6/7: HE Hon Oliver MwezeMukaleng, Minister of HydroResources and Electricity, DRC spoke optimistically about the country’s ability to benefit from increased #solar capacity, which could be rolled out quickly and have substantial impact.
7/7: Dr Amani Abu Zaid, Commissioner for Infrastructure at the Union Commission, urged investors to look to #Africa as a prime investment target, rich in minerals needed for battery production as well as holding vast renewable energy potential.
