With Gen. Mattis visiting #Pakistan today, we wanted to share some tips on what not to ask or do.
1) Don’t come to us asking #DoMore until you’ve taken responsibility for #Afghanistan’s soil & the #terrorists based there with @ashrafghani’s approval.

@ashrafghani 2) Don’t expect us to help you until you target & eliminate #TTP, #JuA & #ISKP. All based very close to your FOBs in #Jalalabad, #Namgarhar & #Khost.
@ashrafghani 3) Don’t expect #Pakistan to sacrifice its #NationalInterest for yours. We’ve learned that lesson in 1989, not need for revision.
4) Come to the table offering benefits instead carrots. This #US #FoPo of carrot & stock (transactional) is an absolute failure. Change this or forget cooperation.
5) Don’t expect #Pakistan to take action against groups based in #Afghanistan who travel into Pakistan to plan attacks & fundraise. They are based in Afghanistan with full govt & military support. Fix that first.
6) Don’t expect #Pakistan to put anything in motion until we receive the due respect for the decades of supporting #US interests in the region.
7) The #US has failed in #Afghanistan because of over blown objectives and supporting tinpot corrupt dictators pretending to be progressive democrats. Accept it and solve it. Staying in country won’t change those facts.
8) Stop blaming #Pakistan publicly while begging for our help behind the scenes. Again, carrot & stick has never worked. Change you tactic to a more cooperative one because #India can’t help you.
9) Remember, no matter what your @StateDept and @DeptofDefense tell you, #Pakistan is a sovereign country that has tolerated your drone strikes. Don’t test us further to see what else you can attempt to get away with.
10) Even former #POTUS @BarackObama said that #Pakistan had no idea #binLaden was in Pakistan, and if you read the commission report, you’ll find that even the families clearly described their movements.
And here is what happened when he met the #COAS.
And then there was the arrival without any pomp & circumstance
