The Lawrence Police Department is currently investigating an officer involved shooting near sixth and Vermont Street. The subject shot is being transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries at this time.
Media staging area will be the southwest corner of 6th Street and Vermont Street.
At 5:03 PM an officer initiated a car stop near 6th and Massachusetts Street. At 5:09 PM the officer called in distress for emergency assistance
As officers arrived to assist some type of struggle was occurring and an officer fired their weapon, and the subject was struck
The subject is in stable condition at an area hospital. A knife was recovered at the scene, it is unknown if it was involved
The Johnson County Sheriff Office will be investigating.
