Some facts about the events that preceded the Government statement here that the coming consultation on the Gender Recognition Act will be narrowly drawn and not affect the Equality Act’s single sex exemptions.

I offer these facts because some are claiming “there was never any question of removing/amending EA exceptions.” Those claims are either mistaken or dishonest.

1/ What many people don’t realise about the GRA- you can already change your driving licence & passport with a click of your fingers, no docs or assessments needed- this is about making birth certificates the same.
2/ why would anyone need to change their birth certificate? And yet they already can, even men who still have penises. But this is still not enough.
3/ New changes would mean that literally ANY man could access women’s spaces just by saying he’s a woman. Any man. If you don’t want that, for yourself, or your daughters, mothers, wives, sisters, girlfriends, work colleagues, and that disabled old lady up the road....

Government funded school guidance has been issued across Scotland, endorsed by Children's Commissioner, charities, LA's etc which discards the need for single sex spaces/sports
No Equality Impact Assessments were carried out, neither by the organisations who compiled the guidance nor the Local Authorities who have distributed it amongst their schools.
As a mother of daughters who are directly impacted by this I began asking questions. I shared @Transgendertrd school pack and I got blocked from LGBT Scotland, the authors of the guidance issued across Scotland
