I guess I'll try this again.

What I'm starting to see and hear around is leading me to believe that things are becoming dangerously polarized in this country.

A while back I sent out another threaded 'state of the US' type tweet storm to warn antifa/etc against further ...

... further violence. I was seeing more and more people fed up with violent behavior.

I see, quite often, people advocating for the removal of 2nd amendment rights, often pitched as 'common sense regulations'. Lately I've started to see this in regards to the first amendment...

... amendment, this is a dangerous path.

Much like I tried to warn when Senator Reid made judicial appointments simple majority (aka the nuclear option), all of the above are dangerous positions to hold.

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions." leaps to mind here...

...here as a pithy saying for the dangers of unintended consequences.

For those on the left, note that NOW you're upset that President Trump gets another pick for SCOTUS and that it will be simple majority.

This is something YOU allowed when it suited your desires.

And now that tables have turned, many out there are crying and yelling about how this isn't a good thing. One word for you 'duh'.

With that example laid out, please take my warning that eroding ANY of the amendments with regulations or court rulings is a bad thing.

There is a baked in process for changing the constitution and the ONLY acceptable way to make changes such as banning speech or getting rid of 'assault weapons' (don't worry I KNOW this is a made up term.) is to follow the already laid out process for modifying the constitution.

Many people on the left and right and center are FED up with violence and attempts to modify rights by non-constitutional means.

I am not saying I personally will 'fight you' if violence erupts, but that I am noting that there are MANY who will.

Things are getting worse...

...worse and you have no one but yourselves to blame.

Attempting to ban words or particular legal guns or to obstruct people's ability to gather peaceably in groups is the path to a huge fight. I don't think that the people doing these things will win this fight but it...

...it would still be a TERRIBLE thing.

If you cannot act like an adult and live by the compact, then at some point people will take your actions against this compact and decide that the compact (constitution) no longer covers YOU. This could be a road to mayhem.

Yes I'm a minarchist, but full blown anarchy isn't good, we need a minimal structure of civility and abiding by our compact.

If others continue to toss this out, then the people living by the compact may toss THEM out. This will be a VERY BAD THING.
