I affirm everyone who plans to protest the alt-right "white Civil Rights" rally in Washington DC this weekend.

How is a white Civil Rights rally any different from a national holiday celebrating a white supremacist Declaration of Independence that celebrates 'discovery' and calls natives 'merciless Indian savages'?

The problem is, its not.

The US is not white supremacist and sexist in spite of our foundations.
The United States of America is white supremacists and sexist BECAUSE of our foundations.

I propose that our country needs a national dialogue on race, gender and class. A conversation on par with the Truth and Reconciliation Commissions in ZA, RW and CA. I'm calling it Truth and Conciliation and my goal is 2021.

We know that he was part of Occupy Wallstreet.
We know he was a huge Obama Supporter.
We know he incited Riots last year, and someone got killed.

A thread about teaching college during the Trump presidency:

Politics and social issues are present in every humanities classroom, regardless of whether or not they're named and/or part of the syllabus.
I teach in a conservative environment and have no hesitations about being seen as a more liberal face on campus. I think it's my responsibility to make sure progressive students know they're supported on campus, even if most of their peers are conservative.
I think making students feel alienated creates a good learning environment, so I want LGBTQ+ students, students of color, progressive students, etc. to feel invited into my classroom, especially bc they might not feel welcome everyone else on campus.
