“I’m post grad and I’m trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I’ve also been trying to take a break from social media. I recently unfollowed like 300 people in a way to limit what I am consuming, you know what I mean when I say that?” (1/10)
“Like I don’t really care anymore to be consuming all of these different things, especially since I have a lot of anxiety. I feel like social media can trigger my anxiety and I have been trying to limit my usage of it.” (2/10)
“Now that I’ve unfollowed so many people, I don’t really care to go on it as much. So now when I’m at home, I have more time to be doing important things rather than just being on my phone scrolling all day or just looking at peoples insta-stories or whatever.“ (3/10)
“Now I’m trying to use it for what I am passionate about and right now those two things are fashion and mental health. Being able to inspire people and being a fashion influencer, but also raising awareness to mental health and mental illness within the black community...” (4/10)
“... because that’s not really like a thing. People don’t talk about it. People aren’t taking it seriously. There’s a huge stigma, as if mental health is make-believe. I just want to work on what I’m passionate about while working to keep my private life, private,“ (5/10)
”and not be overly into social media. It can lead you to have these unrealistic high expectations of yourself. You start to subconsciously comparing yourself like, “oh this person is doing that and we graduated at the same time but they’re more successful than I am ah ah..”, 6/10
”you know what i mean. So by limiting your social intake, it helps maintain your tunnel vision. We often try to cleanse our lives and forget to filter our social medias. You’re able to control who and what you're following and being exposed to and don’t get me started... (7/10)
“... about likes. I’m guilty of it myself. I was getting caught up in my likes at one point, like “yo this shit didn’t get no likes”. But I guess I’m thinking different now, as I get older. I’m becoming more spiritual.“ (8/10)
“Humility is a big thing for me and I don’t really want to equate my worth to 200 or 300 likes. That’s where my mind is at. Having that foundation and being in tune with myself, rather than being brainwashed by everything that I’m seeing on TV and social media.” (9/10)
“I’m actively living, loving and spreading that love to the best of my ability. That’s really my goal right now.” (10/10)
