There is a difference between those who just hear and those who actually see something. This is why Job exclaimed in Job 42:5 "I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee" God spoke to Abraham but to make him connect with it he had to show him.
Here in Genesis 15:4 we see God making a promise to Abraham, words were spoken
"And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir."
However we see in verse 5 that God brought Abraham out to show him what he was saying. hearing has to become seeing.
"And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be"

1. Your periodic reminder: you don't need explicit expected outputs to test. In a real test, a genuine experiment, what counts is what actually happens, independent of any expectation that you might or might not have, explicit or tacit.
2. Moreover, when you're testing, you have tons of tacit expectations, some about outputs and some about other things. Interesting and unanticipated things happen when you're testing. A key job of the tester is to notice them and evaluate them, and to ask "are they *problems*?"
3. The common fixation on "expected result" and "actual result" leads to really lame testing that is practically guaranteed to miss a lot of problems that matter to people. Plus there's plenty of ambiguity about what "expected" means, and sometimes those meanings don't agree.

1. Republicans talked a lot about tyranny during the years President Barack Obama was in power. They talked about being “constitutional conservatives,” about being “patriots,” about being loyal to the flag, and to God.
2. We don’t hear much about tyranny these days, not even when faced with it. When agents of the state break the law, infringe on civil liberties, violate property rights, and act with impunity, you’d think Republicans, of all people, would be outraged. Not so.
3. The latest abomination came early this morning when Immigration and Costumes Enforcement, the federal agency in charge of executing immigration law, entered the property of an upstate NY dairy farmer to detain a Guatemalan. The farmer said the man had proper documentation.
