O Antiphon
Dec 21: Oriens, "Morning Star"

O Morning Star, Brightness of the everlasting light, and Sun of justice, come to give light to those who dwell in the night and in the shadow of death.
In me, a beckoning. The smallest gleam
Is somehow a beginning and a calling;
“Sleeper awake, the darkness was a dream

For you will see the Dayspring at your waking,
Beyond your long last line the dawn is breaking”.

--Malcolm Guite
Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will come quickly. Your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. --Isaiah 58:8
I love the poetic imagery of Jesus as the Morning Star of Justice. The brightness appears a small speck in the sky, when night is deepest, and becomes our guiding star, leading our journey.

If you feel like the night is endless, look toward the horizon. Look for that star.
And it is beautiful that this Advent antiphon fell on Winter Solstice this year.
