Congress-JDS govt announced a loan waiver of up to ₹2 lakh per family a few months ago. Govt decided to come up with a Crop Loan Waiver Software which verifies all documents & ensures only farmers who are eligible get the money directly transferred to their loan account via NPCI
Farmers have to submit:
1) Ration Card
2) Aadhaar &
3) Land survey numbers
Software will then match Aadhaar data with UIDAI, ration card with food department data & verify land record details via Bhoomi portal. A comprehensive DB of farmers linked to loan & land details is built

Software weeds out duplication(same person taking loans in different banks) and helps in establishing a family tree.
All this bypass manual interference in eligible farmer list(aptly called the green list) preparation, keeping a check on malpractice by officials and middlemen.

Banks have shared data on loans borrowed by farmers and this is fed into and verified through the software. Farmers visit their bank branches and submit the necessary documents.
So far, out of the 22 lakh+ accounts, 7 lakh have submitted their details.

Process of verification is already going on at a rapid pace & will cover 21+ lakh farmers spanning 6000 bank branches
Vetted farmers are then handed ‘Runa Mukta Patra’ (loan clearance certificate), indicating their loan is cleared.

The Loan waiver is going to cost Rs. 20,000+ crore and Karnataka govt is ensuring every penny of tax payers money is reaching eligible poor farmers who dream of becoming debt-free. This is the way a Govt should handle loan waivers. Not like in UP & Maharashtra.
The funny thing is, Modi Govt has approached Karnataka and asked about the system that is in place here! Yet mock us?
