<me, idly, looking at cat pictures>: the idea that the alien from Alien was created by anybody rather than just evolving makes its existence fundamentally way less scary
the idea that you could just be wandering the universe and come across something incredibly horrible and terrifying is way more scary without it having to have been a biological weapon created by some other dipshit
i guess this is just the ol' problem of compulsively connecting dots. you do it so things make sense and can be understood and not feared, which is a shame when you do it to your own creative work which is a series of scary movies.
alien is super scary because there's no way to not be terrified in that situation, no way to take a step back and look at it a different way or feel acceptance, the correct response on every level is be terrified. prometheus/covenant replaced that with "lmao what are the odds"
like if someone in covenant saw a monster knowing it was a bioweapon by an ancient race who also separately created humans and now they're across time and space and running into each other, they could be like "HAHA WHAT NO WAY" and that would make sense in-world
like you're gonna get killed but at this point ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ l m a o fine
but yeah, i thought of this because I saw my cat and I was like "that's a perfect organism". which is what ash says in Alien. like, what's the value of it being in any sense a perfect organism if someone made it. bully for you, dave. knock off early i guess
in conclusion: the perfect organism
