I just don’t trust someone who doesn’t understand the magic of books. (This is a Marie Kondo subtweet) Books come to us when they are supposed to and we read them when we are meant to. They are not interchangeable, indistinguishable blocks of text.
Never forget that when pressed to think of the classics, Marie Kondo didn’t mention Austen or Bronte or Tolstoy or Shelley. In her book, she mentions Carnegie and Drucker. No wonder she thinks you can trash them. 😅
Maybe someday we can have a discussion about the classism of minimalism. Having the luxury of not keeping things, because you can turn cash into things and then get rid of the things and then buy things again on demand. 🤔
You know what would be hilarious? If this were all a ruse. She tells people to get rid of books and then sweeps up behind them and takes them all home. 😂 Brilliant. 😂
