Looking to widen the scope of the upcoming negotiations on the association agreement to include a possible customs union; more mobility of persons and free trade deal in services as well as goods. I've had to slaughter Liam Fox's unicorn of global free trade, of course. 2/
Stress no regression on workers' and consumer rights or environmental standards. EU needs to soften its position too to accept that UK needs closer engagement with EU agencies - in exchange for a new British trustworthy regulatory framework in place. 3/
Strong commitment to political cooperation in internal and external security. And robust joint governance of the association agreement making its negotiation easier (and quicker) for the EU 27 to accept - and making the Irish backstop redundant. 4/
I suggest how to enhance legal standing of the Political Declaration, and insist in any case it's politically binding on UK and EU. No, I don't work for the EU. And I do think the EU needs to reassess its neighbourhood policy in the light of Brexit. 5/
And British MPs and ministers who favour compromise over conflict should get to work on this Political Declaration - and vote for the Withdrawal Agreement too. This is better than Norway + btw. @MichelBarnier waits your call. END/
