What is the Trump administration is actually saying is that they are unwilling to expend extraordinary effort to reunite with their parents the children they deliberately and maliciously stole.

And this is why it is necessary to decline debate with people who have proved themselves unworthy of your time.
I discussed this idea at length in this thread.

We're not debating unacceptable premises, and we're not wasting our time on people whose goal is wasting our time.

Also: debate is a tool. We should know what it's for, and (crucially) what it's NOT for.

My wish this morning is that everyone would grow eyes and ears for how often the unchallenged argument for not enacting a clear moral imperative is simply "that would be hard."

This was the crux of my frustration with Brown's statement earlier. It's not to say the details of a "Medicare for all" proposal are above criticism; it's that the announcement merely signifies a predetermination to abandon the goals of such a proposal.

I haven't been tweeting much lately. I feel hopeless.
When I open Twitter, the tweets I see can be broken down into, broadly, two categories.
A thread.
2. One category is exhortations to vote. Vote blue. Vote. Vote.
This is, as far as it goes, good. And I acknowledge that my entire world view may be 🐎💩 and maybe this is the only action message we need.
Unfortunately, this is the less representated of the two categories.
3. The other category, and the one which I see the most, is various forms of "Look what [this asshole] said!" (Or did.)
Outrage at the misbehavior of the powerful.
I hate to say this, but if you haven't figured out by now that the powerful are misbehaving you're not watching.

Top 10 takeaways from our new gender equality survey with @PlanUSA among 10 to 19 year olds:
1) Boys who played mostly with boy toys growing up (e.g. trucks, guns) v. gender-neutral toys (e.g. legos) are more likely to think about girls' bodies than their brains, hold less egalitarian views, and place less importance on "making the world a better place" as a life goal.
2) Girls who mostly played with girl toys (princesses, etc) are more likely to feel pressure to dress like older women, be sexy or hot, and worry about positive feedback on social media.
