I'm mostly interested in the State of the Union speech for watching how far behind the various livestreams are. For example, this NBC livestream is 45 seconds behind their TV channel.
The CBS livestream is 52 seconds behind the CBS TV channel.

CNN is only 22 seconds behind their TV channel on the SOTU speech.

CNN's stream is through Akamai. This recent article describes what Akamai does to reduce latency.

Doing a packet capture, it appears Akamai's CDN is only a couple hops away from my laptop. TTL would start at a value of 64 and be decremented by 1 for every router hop.
Hmm. YouTube is even less, 13 seconds behind!!!
