Remember that Dutch historian who went viral after he suggested in Davos that wealthy people should pay more tax? Tucker Carlson apparently invited him on his show yesterday. That went well! 😂
Carlson didn't air the interview, but Rutger has receipts... To be continued.

Labour have committed to backing a second referendum amendment if their 'soft Brexit' plans are voted down by the Tory-DUP majority in Parliament. Let's break that down #SecondReferendum
Unless there's been a drastic change in Parliamentary arithmetic, MPs will vote a 2nd referendum down. 90%+ Tory MPs will oppose, lots of of Labour MPs - who, we're reminded aren't Corbynites, will vote against, either because they represent Leave seats and/or fear the bitterness
Labour has long been accused of possessing a big red 'STOP BREXIT' button it refused to press. If Parliament now votes down a second referendum which has Labour's backing, then no-one can ever blame Labour for blocking a second vote ever again.

I wrote this short thread to help you. 👇
Dividend imputation is not a “refund of the tax paid by the company”.
Rather, it’s a credit of the tax the company already paid on profit. The credit is to the shareholder’s taxable income when they get dividends. Why?
So tax isn’t paid twice: once by the company & again by the shareholder.

First of all, cash refunds for excess imputation credits are tax refunds to people who pay no tax. How does this happen? They are no longer working, and are using the dividends from their share portfolios as income. They have no “taxable income”, but they still get a tax refund.
Only 4% of Australians benefit from this cash refund system, but all of us pay for it.

And 80% of the benefit goes to the wealthiest 20% of retirees.

This system costs Australia $5.9bn, more than the federal govt spends on public schools. Soon it will cost us $8bn.
