105 years ago today, this guy was born. ⬇️

His work saved an estimated 1 billion lives from starvation in the 20th century, likely including yours and mine.

This makes him arguably the most important person in human history (that you’ve never heard of).

This is his story...
Norman Borlaug was an American plant scientist.

Growing up in the great depression , he was surrounded by human hunger. It became his life’s work to do all he could to help stop it.

His amazing work breeding new wheat varieties could quadruple farm yields.
As a result countries like Mexico quickly became self sufficient in wheat & India doubled its yields.

This ‘green revolution’ paved the way to create the food supply we enjoy today; The most affordable, safest and accessible in the history of our species.
Is modern farming perfect? No.

Is there much more we can do? Sure.

But thanks to heroes like Borlaug, you and I are alive today to make it even better.

So happy birthday Mr Borlaug, and thank you.

I wish I had been taught about you in school.
