Two years ago I produced a documentary on the Buhari administration and had opportunity to see things first hand. I interviewed ppl on the government side and also Nigerians, one common denominator in comments was " corruption is fighting back". It initially sounded ridiculous /1
But as I proceeded on my production I began to understand. We had produced a pseudo growth on the foundation of corruption, everyone was knowingly and unknowingly sabotaging the country and it became a way of life. This administration became the enemy cause it dared to change /2
We wanted government to change but we as citizens were unwilling to change our ways. Is the government getting it right all of the time? Certainly not. But are we moving towards the right direction? Certainly./3
However, the corrupt and the army of the corrupt will push a different narrative. They are strewn all over social media. They would rather celebrate all that divides us, promote national embarrassments and carry out campaigns of calumny. /4
I have news for them, like the saying goes, when it rains it falls on both the good and the bad. When the hate you sow germinates, it will not select who it should consume. Opposition is about constructive criticism, criticism that proffer solutions. /5
People must distinguish between being in PDP and being in opposition. Cashtivists must also decide if they are activists or meddlesome interlopers. Losing an election isn't the end of the world, go back to your business and contribute your own quota to the growth of Nigeria.
