#LagosIbadanRail was flagged off by VP @ProfOsinbajo in March 2017. Track laying commenced 2018; 120+km of the 156km line now completed - tracklaying now approaching Ibadan. Construction has also started at the Ebute-Meta Mega Station in Lagos.

Transport Ministry: 6 of 10 #LagosIbadanRail Stations are under construction.
Still on Rail:
Senior Execs of the China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC) visited the President this afternoon: CRCC Chairman, Chen Fenjian; President, Zhao Dianlong; GM, Overseas Dept, CAO Baogang; President CRCC Int’l Ltd, Mo Wenhe. #RailUPng#AsoVillaToday
JUST IN: “The sum of US$250 million will be invested on a dry port in Ibadan, Oyo State, and it will decongest the ports in Lagos, and speed up clearance of goods by the Customs Service.”—Chairman China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC), Fenjian Chen, today.
I think I’ve tweeted before about new Dry Port (Inland Container Depot) planned for Ibadan. Somewhere in/around Moniya. Will be sited along #LagosIbadanRail route. Incoming Containers will no longer need to be discharged/processed in Lagos; from Ship to Apapa Port Rail to Ibadan.
The new #LagosIbadanRail Line is going to start inside the Apapa Port Complex (I believe construction between Apapa and Ebute-Metta has already started). Expect updates on that segment soon. Was challenged at some point by Right of Way / Obstruction issues, but now resolved.
The Tour of #LagosIbadanRail by Minister of Transport @ChibuikeAmaechi continues today. The Focus for today is on the section of the Line between Apapa and Ebute Metta.
The Ebute Metta Station will be inside the Railway Compound; the Apapa Station in Area B/Leventis.
Construction of Ebute Metta Station has started. For Apapa Station, demolition of existing buildings on the site of the Station has started. #RailUPng#LagosIbadanRail
Costain is getting a new Bridge, as part of the #LagosIbadanRail project. The old Bridge will be demolished (I’m told it’s too low for the new Train), Construction has already started on the new one.

A thread about Nigeria’s Conditional Cash Transfer program @HUPcct - one of the programs under the National Social Investment Programme; and whether N5,000 a month (current monthly payment, to 1.6 million Nigerian households) can make a difference in people’s lives or not.
HM @Sadiya_farouq was asked about the N5,000 at #StateHouseBriefing yesterday. A journalist, asking a question, spoke dismissively about the amount - that N5,000 cannot do anything.
Minister’s reply:
“Saying 5,000 cannot make a difference in ppl’s lives is an elitist statement. We know, ‘cos we’ve gone to the field. We’ve seen ppl, when you pay them this @HUPcct 5k, they cry ‘cos they’ve never seen 5k before. It goes a long way, changes their status.”
“Our relationship is directly related to our commitment to the service of our people and country… Our state was very lucky to find such a person in Professor Zulum… Borno State got it right with him….”
“I am a philosopher king, and none of the vagaries of power holds much tenacious attraction to me. In life, as in politics, there are the winter years; you go into hibernation and blossom during the summer period.” — Senator @KashimSM
“I held sway for eight years, but when a new sheriff came into town I had to move up to a higher plane and went off the radar and allowed him to blossom and call the shots.”
“China gave you loan to build railways and you decided to build one to the deserts of Niger.”
Clearly ignorant as to how these loans work. He thinks China just hands over cash and @NigeriaGov decides to do whatever they wish with the cash.
LMAO. This is really daft, sorry
All loans from China are tied to specific projects - so far the portfolio includes Rail, Airport and ICT projects. The details are public, on @DMONigeria website.
So the idea that Nigeria can decide what to use a loan for, post-approval, suggests this person KNOWS NOTHING
“Within 18 days between November 25th and December 13th 2021, the progressive administration of President Muhammadu Buhari handed over 941 km of (rehabilitated) roads connecting 10 States in five geo-political zones across the country.” — HM @tundefashola, Min @FMWHNIG
