2/ Those articles were part of House of Bush, House of Saud. When it was published in 04, I gave a talk at Columbia and when I finished a man w a Russian accent came up to me and invited me to lunch.
3/ He was from the Russian consulate. What interested him in House of Bush was that it told the story of young Saudi billionaires arriving in US and how they clawed their way to the highest levels of power in the US-largely thru legal means.
4/One of the most frustrating things about the Mueller Report is that people often forget that Mueller had a dual mandate to investigate 1) possible criminal activity and 2) to do counterintelligence and investigate threats to national security .
5/Whatever Mueller dig up re national security is not in the 448 pages released so far and has been sent to FBI. With Barr in charge of DOJ, it’s hard to be optimistic that there will be enough follow through.
6/ That’s a shame because a president can do things that are perfectly legal but that pose a dire threat to national security.
7/ Trump has done just that. Again and again. The Russians own him— and have for decades.
8/ The Russians began laundering money thru Trump real estate 35 years ago. It’s hard to prosecute. But if the man doing the laundering becomes President of the United States it means he is completely and utterly corrupt and has compromised our national security.
9/ In House of Bush, close ties and lucrative business relationships allowed the Bush administration to turn a blind eye to the posed by an Arab kingdom that nurtured Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda, and led to 9/11 and Iraq War.
Trump is even worse.
