1/Given that he’s being charged with obstruction of justice, the optics are, shall we say, less than perfect.
2/ But right in line with his assertion that he could gun down someone on Fifth Ave and get away with it.
3/ His corruption has long taken place in plain sight.
4/ In cheating contractors, in Atlantic City, in telling Russians to dig up 30,000 emails.
5/ Now, he’s saying it very clearly from the Rose Garden that he’s above the law. Dems must impeach.

1/ It's worth remembering the entire context of McCarthy's remarks which @washingtonpost printed at the time. It shows that not only was McCarthy NOT joking, he was speaking in response to a series of events that began to reveal the corrupt core of the Trump-Russia scandal.
2/ As I write in #HouseofTrump, McCarthy's remarks came in June 2016, just 6 days after the Trump Tower meeting, and the same day the GOP House leadership had met Ukrainian PM Groysman, leading Paul Ryan to make the astonishing claim that the GOP was standing up to Russia.
3/ That's when McCarthy chimed in. McCarthy had a reputation for blurting out inconvenient truths, having said on Fox a key reason for Benghazi hearing was to drive down Hillary's poll numbers.

2/ Those articles were part of House of Bush, House of Saud. When it was published in 04, I gave a talk at Columbia and when I finished a man w a Russian accent came up to me and invited me to lunch.
3/ He was from the Russian consulate. What interested him in House of Bush was that it told the story of young Saudi billionaires arriving in US and how they clawed their way to the highest levels of power in the US-largely thru legal means.

For those w short memories, this is very similar to how the Iraq War began.
1/Back then, John Bolton, a hawk loyal to VP Dick Cheney, played a key role when Cheney had him installed at the State Dept. to keep an eye on Colin Powell.1/
2/ At the time, the so-called "Niger documents" among the key bits of "intel" that triggered the war, documents that purportedly showed that the Republic of Niger had sold tons of yellowcake uranium to Iraq's Saddam Hussein so he could make nuclear weapons.

(THREAD) The Barr Summary—a very different document from the Mueller Report—is being woefully misread by media. It doesn't import what media is suggesting it does. Lawyers are welcome to comment on this thread as I report the Summary accurately. I hope you'll read on and retweet.
1/ Mueller was supposed to decide if Donald Trump could be charged with Obstruction of Justice—or, if not chargeable, whether he should be referred to Congress for impeachment for Obstruction of Justice. But AG Barr usurped Mueller's job and decided to make that decision himself.
2/ Barr was selected by Donald Trump upon Trump's reading of documents written by Barr and sent to Trump allies arguing Trump *couldn't* be charged with Obstruction of Justice. So in not forcing Mueller to make the decision his appointment obligated him to make, Barr saved Trump.

1) Seems more & more are anticipating the incapacitated #Justice. As no realtime reports, regarding her current status have been forthcoming, the actual situation that is being perpetrated is a #SC stasis agenda re: #RBG. If she doesn't show for a year or send her wish to
2) continue, her retirement could go 2a default retirement. However, there is precedent whereby a Justice has continued post debilitating stroke for a decade before being forced to resign. A Justice serves until retirement, impeachment or death. Let's add until a coverup ensues.

(THREAD) Last June, I and some others said Mueller had a "prima facie" case on Trump for Obstruction—that is, a case that's evidently correct unless proven otherwise. Today, that's the consensus. But Obstruction is more confusing than some realize. Here's a thread on why that is.
2/ On June 8, a day after I wrote about bringing an Obstruction case against Trump under one of the several means to do so—18 U.S.C. § 1512(b)—the New York Times posted a helpful note on the various subsections of the Federal Code that prohibit obstructing an official proceeding.
3/ 18 U.S.C. § 1503 prohibits "corruptly endeavoring to influence any officer of any court in the discharge of his duty." This is the most direct way to charge someone, and carries a maximum penalty of 10 years. law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18…
