Marc Lamont Hill, in response to an incredible article by my friend @HenMazzig, said that the whole notion of 'Mizrahi' Jews is fake and made up to separate from Palestinians.
There are many things disturbing about what Marc said.
Mizrahi is not a made up term to evade Palestinian identity, and it is extremely disrespectful and wrong of him to even suggest that; especially since Jews of Iraq, for instance, have inhabited Iraq centuries before there was such a people called Palestinians.
Same with Iran, Syria, Yemen, etc...
To deliberately twist history like this is not only gross, but evil.
I've posted my friend's article below, but there are also a lot of gems in it that Marc seemed to conveniently ignore...

Absurdly, @MarcLamontHill says "I literally study Yemeni and Moroccan Jews for a living" and he says they lived peacefully among Muslims.
Ali Bey al Abbasi was the pen name of a traveler who described the lives of Jews in Morocco in 1805 quite differently.

This shows that his antipathy isn't against Zionists - but Jews.

The "antiracist" project to portray Jews as white people who rightly inherit the original sin of "whiteness" is incoherent and odious.

UPDATE: A little bit of pushback, so let me make a general reply. Sorry, I don’t believe that Palestinians are really Arabs doing cosplay. Yes, Jewish identities are much older and may contrast more strongly, but Palestinians are real. They exist. It’s cruel folly to deny this.
