He also mentions he has noticed Raniere having conversations either one of his attorneys during testimony and has found it distracting. Asks them to stop doing this. Then there is a sidebar that is redacted from the transcripts. Next witness is called, using her first name only
Witness says she joined #NXIVM when she was 16 in 2002. She currently lives in Mexico. Says Raniere started having sex with her when she was 18. Says he also had sex with her two sisters. Says a big event for her was in 2010 when “they put me in the room.”
The next chunk of testimony is about her upbringing in Mexico and her family. Says she was always a good student, interested in the sciences. Explains in high school her older sister had an eating disorder.
The witness says she had plans to attend an elite school in Switzerland. Says her parents were taking ESP classes and they had enrolled her in some as well. Her parents gifted her a 16 day intensive as a going away present.
She says during the intensive she learned about Raniere and was convinced he was the smartest man in the world. She describes more about the intensive and what was said about Raniere.
Eventually she gave up her scholarship to the school in Switzerland and moved to Albany during V Week of 2002. Says she remembers her first meeting with Raniere and that he knew she was smart. Says it was a special moment for her.
She describes the stripe path we’ve heard about in previous testimony as well as other inner circle members she met at V Week. Talks about Nancy Salzman and describes her as “a little bit frightening.”
She now describes the enrollment process of NXIVM/ESP which we’ve also heard about in previous testimony. Essentially structured like a MLM scheme. Says while she was in Albany she stayed with Edgar Boone.
Says she was being taught to do some programming by upper level NXIVM members. Says she would make herself useful in any way she could including cleaning.
Eventually her older sister got in some trouble in Mexico and was sent to Albany to live with her and take care of her. Says her sister was depressed for a while but then started going to ESP classes.
Now she’s talking about volleyball nights. Says she always went to see Raniere but was too shy to talk to him. Says it was an opportunity to have more personal contact. She ended up having a deeper conversation with him later in 2003.
Says she was considering going back to school and that Raniere was very attentive to her concerns. Says he gave her a brain teaser and told her to get back to him when she solved it. She said this was exciting for her. She wanted to show off.
Says she solved it before he left that night and he was impressed. Says after this there was more one on one contact. Raniere also offered to tutor her. Told her not to go back to school. This is where they take a mid-morning break.
