Apparently AIT had already filed a case in court on May 30th, sensing that NBC would come for their jugular. The judge asked both parties to maintain status quo as at May 30 when AIT filed its case..

The court rejected 2 prayers sought by AIT -

To prevent NBC from jamming their signals and invading their premises.

The law can be very funny at times with different interpretations. I am a Medical doctor and let's assume I have my clinic and a pharmaceutical company. My regulators are NAFDAC and MDCN.

They are established by the laws of the land to regulate my activities in the healthcare space. I also have clearly written guidelines from both of them, which I agreed to before obtaining my license to practise and run my pharmaceutical company.

So NAFDAC & MDCN send several warning letters to me warning me about my activities and advising me to stick to the guidelines in drug production and treatment of patients in my hospital. I deliberately ignore them and continue with my bad practises.

Regulators continue to push

Acting in line with the act that established them to make me stick to the code of practise. Sensing that they may shut me down, I quickly head to court to file a motion against them to allow me continue in my ways.

NAFDAC shuts down my factory for producing substandard drugs..

MDCN revokes my license for malpractice. I head back to the court to file another order, court then tells NAFDAC to maintain status quo as at when I filed my first case.

Status quo means I should continue to produce substandard drugs which are harmful to the populace.

Why will a court tell a regulator to maintain status quo for 1 week without hearing the case.

If DPR seals a petrol station for incorrect meters, will the court ask DPR to maintain status quo and allow the petrol station to continue to cheat Nigerians?

I no understand law too much..
