Until 1958, Currie Line ran a service to Finland, mainly freight, but they took passengers too on the MV Zealand (photo from Leith Built Ships leithbuiltships.blogspot.com/2010/08/mv-zea…) Until the 1940s, Currie line was The Leith, Hull & Hamburg Steam Packet Co.
Currie Line / Leith, Hull & Hamburg had also run services to Denmark and Germany before the war, I mean just look at this beauty (from timetableimages.com/maritime/image…)
The Currie Line house flag had an X and a +, representing the national flags of Scotland and Denmark respectively.
Here's a more recent find, of the summer holiday sailings from Leith to Orkney and Shetland
The other "big name" in passenger shipping from Leith was George Gibson & Co., they lasted until the 1970s in shipping of bulk liquids, but I'm not sure when the passenger service to the continent died off
But as late as 1964, they were advertising weekly sailings from Leith to Dunkirk, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Antwerp (excerpt of a picture from @Scranlife , scran.ac.uk/database/recor…)
