Here's an interesting tweet that I dug out because I wanted to talk about #France, after talking about #Serbia this night.
Indeed France betrayed Serbs in the 90s, & has been holding onto it since.
I guess it deserves an explanation, from a Frenchman who's not on a payroll.
2. First, as an Historical reminder, what #France betrayed was something big. 200 years of joint History since a wave of Serbian diplomats & scholars came into France to see what we were doing, & then Prince Petar Karađorđević fought in the Franco-Prussian War on the French side.
3. France, despite its ties with the Ottoman Empire, progressively supported Serbia against it because it needed a new foothold in the Balkans, & #Serbia and Serbs showed interest, & huge appreciation for French intellectual & artistic movements. This relationship grew until WW1.

Last week @RobinToal met @IndependentSAGE Chair and Founder, @Sir_David_King King to discuss the UK government response coronavirus pandemic and trust in science. With #PubsReopening in England, furthering the possibility of a #secondwave, we’re sharing the best bits. Thread ⬇️
What problems was @IndependentSage trying to solve?

The main point is that we put our advice into the government, as SAGE does, but we also put our advice into the public domain, and the object is to demonstrate how trust can be developed with the public.

#COVID19 #coronavirus
Producers know that if they approach members of government, including science advisors, they always get turned down. That's not the way to get the #trust of the public. If you want the public to behave in such a way that we manage the pandemic, you have to have their trust.

The Thread
Fatima grabs her gym bag and makes a beeline for the front door, hoping if she passed by the kitchen quickly enough, her mother might not see her. She's almost made it to the door when she hears her mother's voice calling her name.
She halts, drops her gym bag, groans inwardly and replies irritably, "Coming mummy!"

Image

Let me tell you my story of #covid19. On Mar 11th I bumped into @22fr22 a good friend of mine at @MezeFreshRw with another colleague of mine, who later tested positive 1 week after. We hugged, shook hands. After that we parted ways, washed my hands and left.
The 2 days later I flew to Kenya took a train to Mombassa for a wedding on Saturday and back to Kigali Sunday night. As I was a about to board my flight, @RBCRwanda called to let me know that @22fr22 had tested +ve for #covid19. I thought it was a joke, I had to verify with him.
I thought how I had infected soo many people at the wedding, at Train stations, the friends and family in Nairobi. I couldn't believe it. Many questions went through my head:
- What happens when I test +ve?
- Who pays for the bill?
- How will I get back to Rwanda?

[thread] 1 million people were murdered in just 100 days during the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda 26 years ago. In 2016, I visited the Museum of Genocide and saw a part of #Kosovo and #Bosnia there too. This thread explains only my personal experience. #RememberWithRwanda
In 2016, I visited the Museum in #Kigali. I had no idea that will find #Kosovo and #Bosnia there. According to the witnesses and oral history interviews in the museum, most of the victims were killed in their own homes, many by their neighbors and fellow citizens using machetes.
Hutu gangs searched out victims hiding in churches and school buildings. The militarized gangs murdered victims with without mercy. Similarly in Balkans, paramilitary groups killed neighbours and led the army in the territories they knew.

(3) #kwibuka26

#Rwanda :

Who is @YolandeMakolo,the lady specialised in insults on social media with the approval of her boss...Paul Kagame, the president of #Rwanda?

What is her background? Her story and the story of her family(Kayihura)are closely tied to that of Jeannette Nyiramongi Kagame.
While in Nairobi in the 80's,young Jeannette Nyiramongi Kagame was introduced by Husi Kajuga to Speciose Kayihura’s(mother of Yolande Makolo)extended family in Kenya. Jeannette Nyiramongi Kagame would spend days at Speciose Kayihura’s house.
This is were her bond with the Kayihura family grew. Husi Kajuga was a family friend to Mzee Murefu (Jeannette Nyiramongi's father).More importantly, Husi Kajuga was an older brother to Robert Kajuga the founding member and the president of Interahamwe militias.

About 3-4 years ago, Kenya had a chance to be on the cutting edge of setting up drone logistics. We blew it. Spectacularly. Years on, Aviation regulators still clung to "security" objections, and then introduced extraordinarily draconian UAV operation rules.

Never mind that #Rwanda was way ahead of the curve in this respect. Vide: , from 3 years ago.

Last November, KCAA was reminding the citizens that the use of UAVs here is, in their view, 100% illegal. Vide:…

The #ClimateCrisis, buried in aggregate economic indicators:

A spike in inflation in #India "caused by food prices...a sharp rise in the price of vegetables... pulses... attributed to supply shocks caused largely by extreme weather events"

Food prices nearly double in Kenya

"economist Ken Gichinga attributes the rise to erratic weather conditions that hit various parts of the country late 2019"

Where is the media?

The doom is here. We don't need prophets.

In Sri Lanka:

"It is well-known that vegetable prices wrere going up rapidly in the last few months...The main reason for this is the climate anomalies...some crops were completely destroyed"

Thought I'd hold my peace but I get a sense that silence in the face of reckless, divisive & highly inflammatory posts that put our reputation & values, as a people and country, in disrepute is not an option. #Rwanda #RwOT 1/12
Someone has literally been shaming women who experienced sexual harassment or even rape, or whose loved ones have been victims, or for simply for denouncing rapists. He went as far as questioning the integrity of our justice system suggesting it is easily swayed by tweets! 2/12
Social media is an equaliser. You don’t need to be a lawyer or anybody for that matter to have a say on these streets. It’s an open space with a cocktail of different emotions, opinions & allegations, some fake. And not all must necessarily align with our biases or beliefs. 3/12

Well, Madam, that's quite a rant, it wd b rude not to respond since you bothered. U congratulate yourself for being able to "read beyond the headlines" yet your entire threat is predicated on those headlines.
You title yourself a PanAfricanist&yet direct your vitriol at the one African leader who more than anyone else is putting PanaAfrican ideas into action. You r absolutely right to reserve the right to comment on any African nation, or any nation for that matter, what a shame
you fail to use that right for anything worthwhile. U dismiss #Rwanda's gender equality achievements as "posturing", Rwandan women as "gatekeepers for patriarchy" so much for support for the sisterhood. Of course far from posturing, gender equality policies in Rwanda begun in law
