Today, the president of the United States told four brown and black American congresswomen to "go back to their countries." Three of them are natural born citizens and the fourth is an immigrant and onetime refugee whose family chose America as home. It was birtherism x4.

This man's wife is an immigrant. His mother and grandfather were too. But he would be shocked if he was told his wife should go back to Slovenia or that he should go live in Germany. Why? Because to people who think like this, whiteness IS what makes you American.

Whiteness; really whiteness plus Christianity, for ethnonationalists, is definitional to being *truly* Italian or German or Polish or Hungarian or French or British, or American. That's what these far right global agonistes are about.

Russia loves it because it is weakening NATO by driving Western nations into domestic chaos. Russia funds far right nationalist parties and when they win, their countries begin orbiting the Kremlin. Killing American moral leadership - and it is dead via Trump - was quite a bonus.

What a time to be alive.

Also fun that Donald Trump -- of all people -- is calling any other country's leadership corrupt and inept.

Last note: recall that Trump and those who think like him don't mind having brown and black people here to serve them, often for little or no pay. They object to those people asking to be treated like or counted as "real" Americans...
