“To argue—like @SpeakerPelosi—that one first needs to assemble all possible facts before proceeding, is to profoundly misunderstand the nature of impeachment. An impeachment inquiry is the constitutional mechanism for doing this work, not its outcome”

Building the "strongest possible case" is what an #ImpeachmentInquiry is for. In Oct, 1973 Judiciary Chair Rodino hired an “inquiry” staff of 100, including 44 lawyers to gather evidence. Committee didn't meet to discuss it until Feb, 1974.
“Nadler countered Pelosi's pushback by noting that polls showed limited support for removing Nixon from office when the House began impeachment hearings in 1973, but that public support for the effort grew as more evidence came out about his behavior.”

“Nadler indicated that @HouseJudiciary could launch proceedings on its own. Articles filed by Rep @BradSherman #CA30 at the outset of this Congress have already been referred to the panel, giving Democrats a vehicle to begin proceedings.”

@SpeakerPelosi Instead of fear mongering the House Dem reps, @SpeakerPelosi should be distributing copies of the 718 page @HouseJudiciary legal manual from 1973 titled; “Impeachment: Selected Materials” so they can be making informed decisions. cc: @RepJerryNadler @TedLieu @RepCummings
