I have two sets of headphones: AirPods while exercising, and bluetooth in-ear monitors for the airplane that also block sound. I don't use the headphone jack
AirPods are pretty amazing. Battery last a long long time. They are incredibly easy to use. The sound is great. And they do a surprisingly good job staying in my ears.
I also have Ultimate Ears custom molded in-ear monitors. They are great for airplanes, but no so great for my nightly walks, as I can't hear cars.
The battery failed on one of the AirPods, though. But I took it in to Apple for a free replacement, which wasn't so painful.
AirPods are so easy to charge that you forget you are charging them. You just stick them back in the carrying case, which happens to also be a charger.

I pretty much agree with both sides of this argument.
- I'll be playing with Bluetooth tools while at DEFCON, doing shenanigans.
- I mass scan the entire Internet while not at DEFCON, doing shenanigans.
If we can't secure computers while at DEFCON, then what the heck do we think we are doing as an industry??? The answer is that we can secure computers, the DEFCON WiFi (using a certificate) is reliably secure.
On the other hand, your laptop probably has insecure WiFi. It probably autoconnects to named WiFi without using a certificate, like "Starbucks". Vegas this week will be full of access points happy to oblige your attempts to connect to "Starbucks" and shenanigans.

This has been obvious for 20 years, which is why XML took great pains to avoid the "robustness principle". Old Internet protocols like FTP are nearly impossible to make fully interoperable because of "robustness".

The principle being "strict in what you send and liberal in what you receive" was important in 1980 when people didn't know how to write protocols, and "partially working" was an acceptable goal.
Nowadays people know how to write protocols, and "reliably working" is the new goal. Being liberal in what you receive is counterproductive.

Still trying to update XCode so I can compile something. The problem is the bar has a WiFi access point that kicks me off the network when I've downloaded too much.
Of course, I changed my Mac's address (I mean, MAC address), and reconnected to the WiFi to try again. Crossing my fingers that it'll complete. I already updated the OS using the previous MAC address.
Of course, I just admitted to the same crime as Aaron Swartz, changing WiFi MAC address to evade filters. Hopefully I won't have a 100 year sentence to look forward to.

Look at this. Twitter deleted my tweet to @jack and the board members from 7 accounts for exposing their deletion of @MAGAPATRIOT_TGM ‘s tweet.
I certainly didn’t break a communications law. I guess it violates @jack’s virtuous beliefs and non acceptance that free speech applies to everyone. By damn he is going to force us to accept his way or the highway! Collectively @jack censored their followers which totals 106,392
from seeing my challenge. More evidence the board is not performing their fiduciary responsibility to the stockholders of which I am one. The stock will tank as conservatives make their exodus upon Parler’s completion of their upgrades as Parler’s product will be superior.

I love statistics- keeping track of things and analyzing the data to see what I can learn. In 2017, I started riding an e-bike and tracked all my rides using google timeline & my bike odemeter. I can see how many how many rides I had, where I went and for how long rode
All this data may seem like mundane information but when properly presented, it gives a better idea of how I get around the city.
The goal was to use my car less and ride my bike more. After a full year in the saddle, I found I was able to reduce by car usage by almost 40%. Even more so, 1/3 of all my miles traveled were on an e-bike.

Pretty sure the @flypdx TSA actively misinforms their agents about the health risks of the radiation scanners. Just had a pretty depressing exchange with not one but two agents who actually believed the scanners do not use radiation at all.
I usually opt out, but was running too late today to do so, so I went through the scanner. The lady in front of me was taking a while / few scans to make it through, so I was keeping my distance about three yards from the machine.
Two men (this is relevant) TSA agents were standing idly by; one told me to stand closer to the machine while waiting. I was already 3 yrs from it and there wasn't a big line, so I politely stated I'd prefer to keep some distance to minimize my radiation exposure.

2/ HP was always pushing the edge of what was possible as JLG describes with "put a computer in your pocket". BTW, those HP calculators were still in the Cornell Math Library in 1983 when I got there and you used your ID to use one that was bolted to a table! But what about PCs?
3/ Fast forward to about 1990 or so which the arrival of the Compaq LTE 386, the first laptop one could travel with. It weighed 7+ lbs travel weight. It had a 386 processor, 2MB memory, and 10MB hard drive. *Everyone* in the industry had one. Nice power brick and trackpad. Compaq LTE with peripherals.
