These PCBs turned out great! There is something magical about Matte Black/ENIG. 😍

This is my first time doing silkscreen art like this. After routing I exported my board layers into inkscape, did the artwork then imported back into kicad.
1 down.

Hopefully these are the right orientation...
That wasn't too hard. 🥳
And yes, I'm aware you can buy larger pre-made panels.
I used ibom for this project like usual, github.com/openscopeproje…

<sarcasm> It was very helpful! 😂 </sarcasm>
It's alive!!! 😁
So 24x24 pixels isnt that many.

But I can still do cool things!

🤣
This thing is pretty fun to look at. With it on my desk I'd never get any work done. 😅
Trying to get better at filming LEDs.

A lot of these colours are still saturating when they get bright. 🙁
😳
Some more detailed shots of the frame I've designed.

Each side is identical and rotated by 90 degrees to interlock.
The last piece will use pins and magnets instead of screws to fit into place.
Frames have a recess for the panels.

Each panel will be stuck in (double sided tape) and there is a provision for 4 small M1 screws into small holes in the FR4 (This is how the low cost video panel modules are mounted)
There is plenty of space inside that I'm planning on using to house 4xAA batteries and a processor PCB.
Panels are connected either to each other in a shift register chain, or directly to a central PCB.

Some FFC origami will be required internally.
🧐
I'm using the Stick-vise to hold this PCB up off the table, since the components on the backside of this PCB have already been installed.
In order to reflow the topside without disturbing the bottom. I've supported the PCB using screws in a similar sided PCB.

This works really well!
Reel interference patterns

Fixed
Halfway done!
Stuck in an endless loop... 🤪
😅
😑

1 defect out of 5 panels so far isn't too bad! That's only 1 in 2880. 😁
