All of your criticisms of Bret Stephens are nothing but positive from the point of view of his editors, who will take it as a sign that he gets "talked about" and is "provocative" and knows how to "push people's buttons."

It's a waste of time. You're only helping the guy.
Some have pointed out that this is too harsh. Fair enough.

Let me qualify. I was being glib for effect. I think this is a problem throughout the industry: Too often criticism isn't weighed on merits and is instead taken as a sign of drawing attention and therefore success.
