The fake news mongers are out again! This has been the driving force of the violence perpetuated against some South Africa corporations in Lagos yesterday. Here are 3 fakes news posts that fuelled the violence...
Popular blogger, Linda Ikeji is currently taking a heavy hit for posting a misleading news item about an MTN office set on fire in Apapa in an apparent response to the Xenophobic attack in South Africa.
But the aforementioned post had people trying to stop the fire from spreading further and was posted in 2015!
Most of the angry reactions from Nigerians against xenophobic attacks online and offline resulted from a graphic video of a man gruesomely lynched by a mob posted on social media platforms.
WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES!
The video had nothing to do with xenophobia; the man who was killed wasn't a Nigerian but a local thief.
Foreign business owners are the main victims of the xenophobic attacks, they've had their lively hood literally halted! But some of the pictures of burnt business stalls and cars circulating around the web are nothing but fake news.
